    Not sure @Ianjoub where you get this info. Doing it with an f150 with max tow package which will do 12,500 with a weight distribution hitch I would agree with you but an f250 with max tow package, Diesel engine, upgraded suspension and exhaust brakes is very capable to tow 12,000 (that set up is rated at 20,000) so you are only at 60% capacity which is very safe IMO

    I have just seen too many bad things happen. There is no margin for safety in that setup. I personally would not tow anything over 10k without a dually and would prefer that on a gooseneck to a tag along.

    I guess I should add, knock on wood, I have not had a towing mishap yet.

    Well I’m only towing a surf boat so not sure how a 5th wheel Set up would work with the trailer. I’ve talked to few of the engineers at ford and other manufacturers and one thing to think about is the newer f250 are more tow capable that the one tons that were pulling these type of weights just a few years ago So I’m not sure your concern is warranted with the newer models? Happy to report back after I’ve done a few trips.
