488 Pista Values

I wonder if we are due for a leg higher---they all seem to be disappearing from the US market.

 

yes, coupes now being sold for upper 600's ......this model is now really taking off

 

That’s great but every car is on the rise right now. Take a look at what normal used cars are selling for on BAT.

 

I believe it. Saw a Speciale over $500k the other day... not even an Aperta!

 

Are they being sold or being listed at those prices? What confirmation do you have for the actual selling price?

That’s a Speciale. OP was discussing the Pista pricing and last one sold on BAT was back in July.

 

Well could be driven by region. I know one of the sales associate at the collection in Miami pretty well.. Take a look at the coupe they are selling; Will it sell at that price? Maybe not, but over 600k is possible as it’s play money for those high rollers who have getaway condos in South Florida.

What’s the MSRP of that car? I would guess Probably close to 475-500k based on the options. So probably does easily sell for high 500s. I was just at the Fontainebleau this past weekend and more Ferraris parked out front than most dealer lots. Lol.

 

I'd say closer to $440k. Not much in the way of anything special.

 

these cars are undervalued the norm will be 700"s soon and will remain there. whoever is waiting for a drop in value can wait their whole lives.same with porsche , etc...........

 

I disagree. Unfortunately the super bubble we are in is on the verge of bursting. With interest rates rising, current inflation and the market trending the way it has been for the last month the values will start to decrease. If your portfolio starts decreasing 5-7% a month as it has in January and people start to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars the pricing will trend downwards. The historic wealth that has been accumulated has been a once in a lifetime anomaly and pricing will follow the historical trends of the past. Let’s come back this time next year and see what the values of all cars are. I hope I’m wrong about this but I think it’s already occurring.

 

Btw, 42 listed on autotrader and 20 of them are listed below 600k. Many of those have been sale for 4- 6 months. (For what it’s worth the Pista is an amazing car and by far the most exciting Ferrari I have owned. The last of its kind.)

 

Completely disagree...no bursting here.....values, still higher.......these cycles run for years and more depending....not over yet........anomaly's are always recognized, and just go with the flow....SpecialeA's....are still headed plenty higher over time

 

Guess time will tell. Let’s revisit in 6 months, 12 months and see. I hope I’m wrong.

 

It's all relative.

Used Civic Si's are selling for 10k over MSRP
Used Hyundai Veloster N is selling easily for over 30k MSRP
And, get this, a stupid Mistubishi MIrage is commanding a premium.

In this market, if a special edition Ferrari isn't commanding a premium then it's time to make glue out of the Cavallino Rampante.

 

Like I wrote in another thread. I also have a hard time believing prices will keep rising, I hope I'm wrong but doesn't make any sense.

Of course, Pista is exceptional but the buyer's market is also much smaller than for the "cheaper" models (F8).

 

I think it is a game of chess, where you need to think a few steps ahead in the future. It's not the car that appreciates, its the devaluation of fiat currency that will impact the prices. If we are 3 years ahead into the future and lets imagine the market has seen a 35% devaluation of the dollar over that period, then buying a Pista today for 600k makes totally sense vs keeping money on a bank account... that's what's driving prices at the moment imo.

The only Pista’s selling for 500 or less are high mile cars or strippers. I’ve been watching them very closely and the prices are on the rise. World Wide just listed a 2700 mile car that I looked at back in the summer at Miller in CT. Back then it was listed for 529k now they have it listed for 578k!

and ferrari of san antonio had one for 515,000 which i almost purchased. i went on and found a better one in worldwide new york in yellow. the one at san antonio was rosso dino and now its listed at a dealer in ft. lauderdale for 599k......its not stopping. any pista coupe with under 1k miles and a sticker of 460-480 is at 650 average even more

A friend of mine just bought a delivery mileage Pista 50k+ over sticker. He is balloon financing it through FFS which will add another 50k+ in interest.

He bought it as an investment and will not register or use it. So car will have to increase already 100k just to reach break even ?!?

 

I know the state that I unfortunately grew up in and once was a great state, that is Illinois.....they frown if a vehicle is not constantly registered and will make you go through the process of redoing titles and maybe paying back fees. I paid over 40K in sales tax here and thats OK, I did budget it in. More than ranting I suspect that he will have sales taxes and others to recoup as well. Hope none of which are as onerous as Illinois seems to be to me.
