No question that Supercars were built with the intention by their maker that they would be driven, after all that's their real purpose, but for all the low miles examples that exist, I think there are even more that are used extensively, their owners don't always report usage on social media perhaps because they are to busy driving and planning the next trip. I'll check and advise, my understanding is that the engine has been maintained but not rebuilt.
Depending on usage no reason for it yet. If a German owned car that spent its life on the Autobahn that would be one thing but well cared for in the USA? Should be good to go for some time. F50 motor is very different. It really was a detuned F1 engine and every part was designed for maximum output, not maximum life. Enzo is from an engine family designed to be street cars and benefits from some more modern material technology too.
And the detuned version of the Enzo is in a 599 ..so that may be a good gauge of longevity Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
F40 is certainly a good example of Ferrari engine design philosophy. That engine family started out as a 3 liter 230 or so HP engine and ended up with no highly specialized parts making a reliable 500 hp with 3 liters. Basically the same block, rods and crankshaft.
Not really. It is based on the 333's engine, not the F1's car, and only the block is similar. Don't buy the F1 for the road malarkey.
Ferrari made the F50 engine from the F1 engine so it would be eligible under the rules for the new class to run it in the 333 which required a street based engine. Since the F50 design was finalized and release publicized so IMSA allowed its use prior to F50 reaching the market. Any other version of the story made zero sense as an engine of that design would never have intentionally been put in a road car. No F50, no 333.
I am guessing that is based on all the F50 engines you have had in pieces and comparing them to other Ferrari race engines.
Indeed, I've seen this gentleman whizz past me on the Pacific Coast Highway on weekends several times in the recent past. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Pope’s Enzo (141920) in Carmel, August 2015. I won a bet with my best friend (we bet a Martini Bianco!) about the final result of the auction, I said more than 3M, he said less, and Max opened the biddings at 2M if I remember well! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Note black rear spoiler. 141920 is the 497th Enzo and was completed 28 July 2005. Rosso Scuderia 140 2311 with Cuoio 4609 leather. Assembly #59050, engine #91280, gearbox #532 and body #357. Marcel Massini
Yup, there's several frequently-driven ones in LA. The owner of the Schumacher Enzo has been known to drive it around SoCal quite a bit.
[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]. Hope they had a big drip tray to catch all the fluids that would slowly seep out of every orafice - oil in the chambers would make starting interesting. So here is another picture, before they installed the false ceiling and walls. Also in the first photo the guy at the wheel is painting the tire a nice shinny black. It must be some sort of pop up photographic studio? And definatley not some sort of pop up service shop. Marcel any thoughts from the archives? it is bare carbon fibre yes! I blame myself for not having taken pictures of the wonderful Cuoio Daytona seats.
Amazing pics everyone especially the detailing by "275GTB" and that 80,000 miles+ enzo. Some questions: I remember seeing photos of an Enzo with a center-console screen and I think cruise control as well. Was that factory fitted? and How many miles on that targa top enzo that crashed and is on the road?
your pics remind me of the time i was in monaco for the weekend, and we went to the Monte Carlo Beach club for lunch, and there were at least 4 or 5 Enzos parked side by side in the open parking lot.... will try to find the pictures i took
