New TV program featuring the 308 GTS

This coming Sunday the latest episode of ‘The Car Years’ (on ITV4 UK) features a 308 GTS versus a Lotus Turbo Esprit.

Vicki Butler Henderson (who appears quite excited to be driving the 308) left a small teaser on her YouTube channel (footage with the 308 is from 4:07 to 6:00 mins):

I seem to recall that 'Car' magazine (in the UK) loved the Lotus in the early 80s, but I think that was more in comparison with the GTBi. I did drive a later version of the Espirt Turbo at Oulton Park once, and it handled really beautifully.

Vicki Butler Henderson! I haven't heard of her since the old days of the original Top Gear with her and Tiff Needel. I enjoyed that show.

That YouTube content is pretty crude but hopefully the presentation is better in the show/series itself. I couldn't view the trailer from here in the USA.

I have it too, but I was older than 13 unfortunately.

I had a subscription to Car for many years and still I have all the magazines up in the loft.

The one that sticks in my mind is an article by Mel Nichols with a 'duck egg blue' Mirua SV. If I ever had a Miura, it would have to be that one.

 

I also had that magazine and here 35ish years later I have both the cars, 81 308 and 85 Esprit.

 

I’ve still got that one.

I can’t believe the Esprit won by 2:1 votes. I like the Esprit - esp the S1 - but I wouldn’t have one over my 308QV.

I owned a 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 the same time I had my Ferrari 308 GTS. Was really happy seeing it in my driveway for the first time. Was happiest when the transport company arrived a year later to take it away!
