The gorgeous Prugna cars have prompted me to see if anyone has pics of a Marrone 308, which is what I believe my car started out with...

Thanks cor the pics so far - it is obviously a colour which varies a lot in different light conditions so if anyone has more 308 pics (not GT4 as the lines are quite different), I’d love to see them!

    Hi Mike,

This is the exact spec of my 308. It really is a beautiful color, get many comments. Funny enough, initially I wished my first Ferrari was red, but now, I truly love the Marrone.

I tried to buy one in France 9 years ago. It was sadly sold before I could go there to buy it.
I love this colour for a 308 GTB.

I will find the pictures and post them here.

Marrone actually came in two shades appearently.

    One darker than the other.

My '81 GTSi is Marrone Met.*

A doctor one village over, who reportedly owns 5 or 6 Ferraris, I've seen his 246, owns a 308 GTS (Carbed) in the same deep brown metalico as mine.

    Darn small world.

    * - I'll post the EXACT COLOR CODE a bit later.

    Karen,

Marrone is an absolutely beautiful colour on a 308 and if you are considering a repaint, and your car was originally marrone, you'd be mad not to return to its factory colour.

Of course, this is my personal opinion but if you spoke to Carl, he tell you the same thing.

I'm sure you will make the right decision for you.

That's funny - its my favourite colour for a 400i and always has been since I saw a one in that colour at a Adelaide Ferrari dealership in 1985.

I think I recall a marrone 400i that briefly appeared in that eighties TV series Cover Up. as well.

Actually I was referring to a Mercedes.
I's a 92 400E and have never loved the dark red color.

Perhaps yes, perhaps no: it depends on the paint manufacturer and the date of production of the cars.

To cut a long story short, paint providers varied between Glidden Salchi, later simply Glidden, then Glasurit; and some of the colors available for the 308GT4 were not available for the GTB/GTS, unless specified in a special order.
A color might have the exact same name in the paint range of the different providers, and not be exactly the same color... or it might be the exact same color provided by the three paint manufacturers, but under a different name...

I seem to recall (??) that Karen's car is a carbed car, in the late "29xxx" chassis numbers' range, which should point to the late Glidden paint range, but not Glasurit (which started in the spring of 1981 if my memory, etc...and furthermore, when Ferrari changed of paint manufacturer, which happened again during the 355 production, they exhausted the existing paint stocks first, so sometime two cars produced the same day under the same color name have different paint manufacturers...)

I’m not considering repainting the car at present, (this was just an idle whim flowing on from the Prugna thread) but if I was to do so, yes I think I’d go for it! I love the way the couloir shifts in different lights.
My absolute favourite colour on a 308 is actually Grigio Argento! Saw a perfect one in WA many years ago.

Argento is indeed very nice, but it should be said here again that the 308 shape and size is perfectly suited to almost any color; you would be at loss to find a color that does not suit that car. Whereas, as for myself, I don't think that red, for instance, is kind to the big-front engined V12 as the 550 Maranello (a car that I like very much if in Argento or Blue). The 308 is nice under almost any color...
