I’ve got a 2020 F8 Tributo that I originally ordered, with about 3,000 miles, and it’s been a fantastic car. There’s no burning desire to part with it, but it’ll soon be relegated to very limited duty, when my SF90 AF spider arrives off the boat soon, and my Portofino M and Cayenne Turbo GT join the stable around June.

In exploring the current F8 market, I do contemplate whether now’s maybe a good time to consider letting it go. However, if this isn’t really a mirage and values will continue to hold, then I feel less inclined to act. I really do love the car and would be happy to keep the last all ICE V8 mid-engine Ferrari model built. Thus, I’m keen to know what others see in their crystal balls for the F8? Thanks in advance!

I think it is more about inflation than the F8 right now. If inflation is transient, then you might want to sell. If inflation is going to be around for five years, you might want to keep it. If it were me, I'd hold it until the US federal reserve actually hikes interest rates above a half percent. If I sold my Speciale right now, I have no where to put the cash, US stocks are either fully priced or overpriced.

Lots of people that I talk to that own 458's and F8's say the same thing..."I'm never selling this car". Now of course some of them eventually will, but you never used to hear that so often. 355 owners would buy a 360, 360 owners would buy a 430, 430 owners would then get a 458, etc. And the cars were a generational leap ahead, mostly.

There is a complete lack of enthusiasm for the newer models (SF and 296), and that wasn't the case before. Perhaps that changes down the road, I'm sure the 296 will be a great car.

BUT....the performance of the current-gen stuff is already so far beyond what us mere mortals can use, and the tactile enjoyment has definitely lessened with the hybrid/electric conversion. When I drove a SF90 at Pebble Beach, the performance was astounding. And it was a limited amount of driving time to be fair, but I didn't actually....feel anything.

When ordering, I originally planned on holding my F8S for about a year. After 1400 miles, I am firmly in the "I'm not selling this car" camp. It's just that good (except for the exhaust sound, ha!) for my normal uses. And as a finance guy, I would normally love to take advantage of market conditions to sell a typically depreciating asset for a 30%+ gain.

I can see values coming down, because paying 40-75k over MSRP for a F8 coupe seems a bit crazy. BUT....but...we've never seen a circumstance like this before, with the "newer faster better at everything" replacement model being such a completely different, potentially less desirable car.

Should be interesting! Best of luck on your SF Spider, I'm sure that will be a wonderful car.

Both excellent responses and I couldn't agree more...thank you! I hate where the auto industry has been forced to go in abandoning the ICE. From an electrical infrastructure perspective, the U.S. is nowhere near ready for everyone to have a fully battery powered car. Yet, politicians have us barreling in that direction, without any real care or understanding of what's actually required, or the potential fallout associated with it. Thus, I suspect many will hang onto their gas guzzlers (especially if they are weekend toys), potentially keeping values elevated.

I see Tributo's listed in the low $400K range with under 3,000 miles, and wonder how close they're actually trading to where advertised? Even more perplexing is the values for G63's, for which I have two 2021's. By far, the worst vehicles I've ever owned in terms of quality. But, they're trading at $100K+ over sticker. Perhaps it's the Kardashian effect lol...

This is a great response and excellent feedback. I will say however, you have several in the 458 and 488 camp that state they don't "feel" anything with the SF90. Then you have SF90 owners who claim the car to be nothing short of epic. I think the SF90 is highly desirable and will go down in history as one of the last greatest HALO cars from Ferrari. I was lucky to be able to order one, hopefully I'm allotted an allocation for one but between that and the F8 I'd like to think I'll have the Countach and Diablo and therefore both will continue to at best hold their value and go down in history as legendary.

at least in my local market, they are definitely selling. Difficult to say if low 400’s is a correct number as original MSRP could vary widely. 40-50k over is probably a good rule of thumb, depending on spec and miles. And who knows what that looks like as we roll towards summer.

Spiders are going for a little bit more over MSRP than that. I'm seeing well optioned cars in near $600k. Almost better off buying a Pista.

Both are automotive legends, and should keep rising in value as long as they can be legally used on the road.....if any cars would be worth $25/gal gas it would be cars like these.

The market will cool. Prices go back to 'normal' with the same tiers. The V8s will drop farther than the V12s since they ran up farther. Timing is everything. No one knows when but things get clearer over time. FChat is a better predictor of car price trends than many other methods. But when you see volumes of cars moving here at slight discounts you've likely missed the peak. A great spec in excellent condition with low miles and full service history can go longer or just keep!

It would probably do very well on BaT right now. I've actually thought of selling my 360 sunroof manual, but it's so rare and it took a long time to find it.

Another metric of consideration is that at least for me performance is enough. I’ve had a lot of standard production V8 and 12 over the last 30 years and at each level I was always excited about the newer model for additional performance. For the first time ever when I acquired my 812 I said to myself this is really too much car for the street. This is enough.
I don’t need any more performance.
So with an eventual hybrid 812 replacement coming I won’t be needing it. Same for the 296 and whatever comes after.
    The F8 is also enough.
Not to mention the complexity/weight added with hybrid. Knowing full well all boats have risen in then high tide of inflation that will eventually settle somewhat, I think this need to upgrade will be less of a factor. For my eye the F8 is design perfection with its substantial performance that should keep values fairly firm. Depreciation will Of course be there but less so than from the cars before.
Im super excited to be adding a Porto M that is about a month away and my F8s is about 12 months out. I really don’t see any need to upgrade from there. However I’m sure Ferrari will tempt something but these current cars are so good. Adding another 200hp to an 800hp car but also adding a lot of weight doesn’t entice yet. This has to have some price effect.

I am seriously thinking of selling my 2019 488GTB. Then yesterday I took it for a drive to run some errands at lunch and thought I can't sell this car.

The smart thing is to sell it while I can get 10's of thousands more than when I bought used in 2019....but the kid in me wants to keep it till the warranty is over which is late 2024. I am not a finance guy, and I suck at predicting and watching any sort of "market"....my brain doesn't always work like that and the passion and emotion are much stronger with me.

Yeah I am being honest here...I am wishy washy on what the heck to do.

I can sell my 2019 probably for around $35-$40k more than I bought it for. That is very tempting to me as that has never happened with any car I have had in my life. I'd surely miss having my 488 but feel comfortable with it gone and money in the bank. I am in no rush though. We will see.

The car was delivered October 2018 as a 2019 model. I bought it December 2019. The factory warranty ran out October 2021 but when I bought the car I got the extend 2yr warranty so I am ok till October 2023, another year and a half. I definitely do not want a car like this with out any factory warranty so selling it with some warranty would be a good idea too.

I've seen some for sale, but the asks have been ridiculous. I saw one today, nicely spec'd, but they wanted almost $600k. I suppose that's part of my problem, I'm not willing to pay 180k over MSRP and that's where some of these cars are.

In my local market, F8 Spiders are selling for $100K plus over MSRP. I do believe the market will remain strong for the foreseeable future. The F8 is the last ICE mid engine car. It will be desired for a long time to come. When the factory produces the last one, thats it. There will be no more. I do believe the enthusiasm for SF90s and 296 are growing (at least in my market), but they are still new tech hybrids; and the nostalgia for pure ICE will remain significant in comparison.

I have my F8 Spider at Status 85 at the moment. I also have an 812 GTS on order which I expect to take delivery of in the next 6 to 8 months. Initially I made the assumption I would sell the spider and keep the 812 long term. But there is a real possibility I simply keep both. I am confident that the values will be retained, although maybe not at the crazy levels we are seeing now, but at very strong values nonetheless.

I have tracked both the F8 Tributo and 812 Superfast in the past and they are both insane cars to properly race. My new spiders will not be tracked. But every time I go into my garage and see them I know its going to put a smile on my face. And that above value is actually more important to me.

They are asking those prices because the market is accepting those prices. Even at these crazy high values, the cars are selling quickly. The market is speaking.
