To be picky, the tachometer does not indicate that the original engine was a 427/425 HP motor. They redline at 6500RPM. I could not see the oil pressure gauge but the big block gauge should go to 80psi the small block is 60psi. Additionally the car is missing the distributor and plug shielding as well as having incorrect plug wires. I also note a single chamber brake master cylinder. I may well be wrong on this one but I thought in 66 they went to a different master. May have been 67?
These are all easily rectified as the parts are readily available and not pricey. Overall the car is a great looking motorcar.

I believe you are correct. 67 I believe went to dual master. Depending on the rest of the car this is a really appealing car.

Any documentation supporting this as an original 427/425 car?

  4. The hood strut is not on the drivers side. Small block cars had them on the right.

May have been the 390HP big block which has hydraulic lifters among other differences and a lower redline than the solid lifter cars 425HP and 435HP.

I'd want to look at this real close, from the pictures, it looks like it could be a small block car.

67 was the first year for dual chamber master cylinder. The tach's redline does support at least the idea that this car was a small block of a 390 car at birth. Pretty color, manual shift, coupe....got a lot going for it.
Also, if it's a real dealer installed warranty CE block, then the engine pad stamping could theoretically document it's dealer replacement and provide some comfort in the car. The redline tires didn't come out until 67 as well, but they're a popular selection for all midyears. Looks like reproduction carpet as well. Incorrect oil cap and fuel filter. Original Holley carbs had internal fuel filter, not external as this one has. I'm nitpicking i know, but it's in my blood. I am a 67 NCRS judge. LOL....
