That will be my next step. Yes, the auction with Cars and Bids was a disappointment....it just never had any traction. However, I was happy with the customer service from the guys at Cars and Bids.

I bet that T needs $30-40K of recommissioning. Sitting, is a death sentence for these cars.

Looks way too tired out to be a 33km car. Either that or it was used fast and hard, and then shelved when it was not longer new enough be a bling status symbol.

The overly red painted lower body and trim, aftermarket steering wheel, missing trx wheels that would have been on a Euro car (spare is a trx), aftermarket exhaust and the lowering of the car - it will scrape easily, make this a mild custom which would usually narrow the market interest. With time and money it could all be freshened up and sorted, so who can say what a fair value is when the market speaks.

Perhaps worth it with the two new sealed OEM convertible top latches that are included in the sale, those are priceless!

That is a very nice example, low milage but used enough to keep it from deteriorating, and maintained to a high standard.

The only odd thing for me is the replacement of the parking brake shoes - these would normally last the life of the car, unless someone was drifting Toykyo style, or more likely someone left the brake on while driving away and wearing them out inadvertently. Not everyone, especially a new owner or valet, gets how that parking brake lever works!

Great colours, even thought I have the 1988 cab, over the years I am coming to appreciate the design purity of the original hardtop 8's.

Indeed, to my eye the earliest coupés in these kinds of colors are truly beautiful.

Back in the day 400’s and Gt/4’s were trading in the dumps too.
Miss my Gt/4, very raw. 400 never spoke to me. Most are automatics too. So it’s long overdue….

    Gated? (check)
    Low production numbers? (check)
    Same Conolly leather interior? (check)

    Cab or Coupe?

Almost $50K USD. I bet with that mileage it runs damn well. Congrats, add some pics!

It's all original, it was dry stored for about twenty years before being sold to the dealer I bought it from. A recommissioning service, set of cam belts and MOT were included as part of the purchase price, as were a set of brand new TRXs (the old ones would never have gone through an MOT).

A couple of little issues, the fuel gauge doesn't work, the electric aerial did work but has now packed up and it's started piddling a bit of coolant just in front of the block (which I suspect is one of the pipes that run from the front). Original stereo is going off to be repaired next week (sound only coming from one channel). Everything else works fine. The aircon shows a yellow warning on the panel but it works and has just been recharged so I'll ignore that.

I've just fitted a custom exhaust and it now sounds wicked.

When you start it next, firmly “flick” the face of the fuel gauge. Do it a few times. I’ll bet you a beer it will slowly start to work and show its level.

Ha! What do you drink? I've given a tap a few times (especially the other day after filling it with nearly £100 worth of super unleaded) but no dice yet.

    Adrian, congrats! Enjoy the car.
But while you're getting things addressed, please check all the fuel hoses/lines and change them out if necessary. They do corrode due to age from the inside and the damage is not always visible.

So is it time to sell my 83 Quattro with 11,700 original miles, original paint, and interior? If so, what's a conservative value?

I looked on BAT for the first time and could not believe the prices achieved......due to inflation or is the Mondial finally getting some love?
