I hear you. Only point of my post is I don’t believe a 355 Challenge is alot slower . I wouldn’t be surprised if a track-prepped/lightened 360 is faster as the car has a far better chassis and generating more power. Here are some video comparisons I’ve found on Suzuka Circuit. Fairly standard F355 Challenge on Advan summer tires. Only changes he has is he added a 50 lb muffler while the standard challenge muffler probably weighs only 15 lbs. For more info his Instagram is @zztopracing Lap time: 2:25 Modified/lightened Manual 360. Lap Time: 2:23.88 (his best time) 458 Spider. Same driver same circuit. Lap time: 2:31 Go figure Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here’s a few more . Suzuka Circuit Bone stock Scud. Bridgestone Potenza Summer tire. Lap Time: 2:24.3 Stockish 458 Italia. Lap Time: 2:26.7 599 GTB. Laptime: 2:32.32 Couldn’t find a CS on Suzuka, but where would a bone stock CS fit in?
The bid is at $230k with 5 hours left. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2004-ferrari-360-challenge-stradale-16/
The one I sold was about as museum quality as it gets. But being black I think held it back a good $40-50k vs red/blue. That would have put a popular color in your range.
Does anyone know if this is a real stripe? VIN: ZFFDU57A840135218 Just listed with Ferrari of Seattle but not on registry
Appears to be as body color is showing under the rear Ferrari badge which is indicative (but not guaranteed) of a factory stripe car.
now i can reply to you, Respectfully i disagree #1 you were mistaken when you said BaT wouldn't accept a reserve over $240K, the reserve on this was over $250K , #2 it does 100% matter who the seller is, not tooting my own horn here, but it makes a difference when a seller is known makes complete transparent ads covering everything that could be asked , and they have a good reputation, builds confidence, which leads to higher bids..thus BaT allows for a higher reserve and sometimes lets you name your own reserve if you want (as long as its not ridiculous) Merci & au revoir
A dealer should be able to run a build sheet. I would think it would be indicated there. Can you not tell the difference since one is under clearcoat and the other is not?
Note: I am not a lawyer so this post should NOT be construed as advice. Its my opinions and informational only. This is a question like "how long is a piece of string".. ? Answer is, it depends... Firstly is it legal in your local jurisdiction? Can you legally remove standard fitment passive safety items from your vehicle such as airbags "by law"? There are several valid reasons why you may wish to not just because they are obviously broken which is what some laws focus most on. For instance some unscrupulous individuals have been known to "fix" accident damaged vehicles with fake airbags and a resistor to trick the airbag light so laws have got more strict over the years. Legitimate question but are you really sure that you are even covered today on a 20+ year old airbag equipped car anyway? What happens if because they are so old that they fail to go off in the event of an accident (due to natural aging)? Are YOU the owner then liable for not maintaining your vehicle correctly? At one point I think Ferrari dealers where giving out advice to replace airbags every 10 years on 360's. Don't really know what happened with that one but I assume they probably decided not to make too much noise and fuss about it because it would create a HUGE problem for the factory with the demand it would create. They very probably don't have enough to go around and that technology is now so obsolete that you couldn't get a new one anyway, how many of the original airbag suppliers from a late 90's Ferrari even exist let alone would re-manufacture them? Again this subject is all going to get horrendously complicated and different countries will have legally polar opposite views on it. In countries with a strong motorsport heritage or a thriving "kit car" culture there will most likely be more leniency on what you can and cannot do but not always and it may in fact vary with the age of the vehicle so the only way to know for sure is local investigation. For instance if you fit well adjusted "race harnesses" (again not all places even allow these on road legal vehicles, its pretty common in Europe to have them fitted) to fixed bucket carbon seats (Modena, CS and Scuderia all had them on the options list for EU destined cars), airbags can actually impede and be quite dangerous and won't anyway help as your firmly secured to the seat and cannot therefore hit anything like the steering wheel anyway. In my humble opinion (absolutely not legal advice) airbags only really tend to help out for people who don't wear seat belts and/or have them improperly adjusted in the first instance or are abnormally large or small in terms of both build, weight and height. There is an adjuster for occupant height on most cars on the pillar but how many people even know or have ever adjusted it? So just having and wearing seat belts is absolutely no guarantee of additional safety. See how complex it can be? Now most race cars have HANS compatible race seats too and such devices wouldn't really work on a road car as they restrict movement too much... On the original question, well that's going to very much therefore depend on 1) whether its illegal to modify the original specification from factory and 2) whether you've declared your changes on your insurance policy documentation. Just declaring it alone may in fact not be enough because if the car inadvertently becomes non-road legal due to this change there may be a clause in the policy which nullifies your insurance anyway! So in summary is it really worth all the hassle and potential pitfalls? Probably not so much in USA but in other countries it may not be such an issue. YMMV depending on the country. Some countries in EU you cannot even change alloy wheels!!!! My opinion is the more the government bodies meddle with stuff like this the worse it gets....
cars from the factory with the stripe under the clearcoat: what do you do if the stripe gets damaged or scuffed and needs repairing?
drive it more than 20k/mi. Because its worth nothing then anyway. In all seriousness, that is a great question. complicated repair for sure...
Same thing you do with any car that has a painted stripe. Prep/mask the surface and paint accordingly. CS stripe is child’s play. For example… everything here is painted… Image Unavailable, Please Login
