355 What's the best spakers for doors without any modifications?

Scanspeak 16W/4434G0 is what I used for mine. You're constrained on mounting depth so the options are limited. To take advantage, you're going to want to deaden the doors and get a DSP

 

Focal makes a shallow mount speaker that theoretically should fit. I have a set of them here (NOS) but not sure if they sell them anymore...I'll be putting them in my car when I redo the stereo. My intention is the same, everything to be hidden in factory locations.

 

These speakers mounted into the doors of my 348 with no mods. I also mounted the tweeters (perhaps with some simple mod, cannot remember) and managed to tuck the cross-overs, after removing the fancy perspex plates, into the spaces just below the tweeters. Pretty high quality sound.

This is what I have...however in storage still. I sold my previous 355 and will get around to installing these in my new one this summer.

They are 2 - 3/16th of an inch in depth. I bought them because there was an old thread where guys had measured the max space, and I tried to find the best ones I could that would fit...and this is what I landed on.

The Focal PS 165 FSE's are the replacement for them, but they are 1/16th of an inch deeper...not sure if that will matter though.

The fit fine, They are much better than stock but not amazing. the reason i got them is because they were exactly the same size as OEM. maybe use the specs as a reference?

 

The Tubi cats took 3 months to arrive and the price has skyrocketed since. Some F1 models have the updated metal core cats so if you have those your ok.
