I'm a fan of the body color accents as well, but I'm thinking it's not going to happen on this car since it is still not an option on the configurator.
My guess is the number of people that ordered body color on the Stingray was very low so they decided it wasn't worth it. And people can always paint it or wrap themselves if they really wanted it.
Well am excited for this car! Are they making the coupe and the convertibles at the same time? I also wonder if there is a difference in production numbers?
When I have time (traveling at the moment) I’m gonna see how your configuration looks, except white coupe vs gray HTC. I think the red would look killer on a white car.
Corvettes are different than Italian cars. They introduce both coupe and convertible versions at the same time (or within a few months of introduction). There are no restrictions on how many can be made of coupe or convertible. And because the coupes are targa tops, there's practically no difference in performance or strength. They go down the exact same assembly line AND at the same time. So a worker might put together a Coupe and the next a Convertible and the next a Coupe. They don't break down the line between the two models so there's a lot of flexibility on who can get one when. Production numbers don't come from the factory. They are completely dependent on what customers order. Older soft top model Corvettes were about 15% convertibles. The Stingray I believe is over 30%. Chevy just follows the market demand without constraints. The price difference is a modest $7500 between the coupe and convertible. So the first day of production the Z06 will I am sure have some convertibles made.
Someone in the aftermarket is selling body color replacements for the Stingray. I assume you send them the core and they send you one already painted. Like all Chevy aftermarket stuff, its surprisingly cheap compared to Euro stuff.
You should look at the special edition Z06. One version comes in the white pearl paint. Its the only way to get white pearl and I'm sure its pretty amazing.
I’ll do that. I’m pretty sure I’m going with white. It was really nice not feeling like a slob when I had the white HTC; it almost always looked clean. If that car had been a coupe I probably would have kept it and canceled the black one I’m waiting for.
Special edition. Seems to come only this way and with white and black seats but with pearl paint. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Convertible orders were 49% of the total December 2021 and January 2022... They (HTC) were 42% of the 2021 MY orders (highest convertible take rate since the 1969 MY)
It's a testament to the ZO6 that even that dude and his silly video can't take away from its awesomeness!
how do you figure? He took delivery of a new 2023 Z06. Exactly as the vid title states. ............... It's a press car, but still. .
I believe that caravan of cars seen the other day are press and media cars. There's no need for them to have camo aside from just protecting the paint. There's not one test also of the new Nissan Z and that's supposed to go on sale this spring. I heard that Mike Furman stopped taking Z06 "requests to buy" when he reached 1800. There's no real need to do PR to sell this car anymore.
