    The time has come to part with this centerpiece. I had planned to turn this into a coffee table by adding internal lighting and a glass top, but I never got around to it.

    Designed in the early 1980's by Porsche's Hans Mezger and his team, the TTE P01 1.5L V6 engine was run by McLaren in the 1983 to 1987 seasons. Driven by Lauda, Prost, Rosberg, and others, McLarens of this era were winning races and championships with this powerplant. The TTE P01 was a successful design that was reliable, lightweight, and fuel efficient, capable of producing between 700 and 1000hp.

    This particular engine block and heads, number 12, has been cleaned and is ready for use as a display piece, coffee table base, or may be put back in service as others have in Porsche 930's. Number 12 in its current configuration measures 18" long, 23" wide, and 18" high. This piece also includes hardware for the head nuts, aluminum block-end panels for display, and a TAG fabric patch.

    Not that I'm a buyer - but what is the provenance on this? I would say knowing Ron Dennis and Porsche getting a TAG block is quite a win!

    Recent provenance is that it was used as a foot rest under my desk! Otherwise, I also started looking to find out if that number corresponds to cars, events, or drivers but nothing is known yet.

    Jason, I hope BaT meets your expectations, as your most unique block and heads, are a very hard sell,
    particularly at 'no reserve'.
    This of course, unless you find the 2 proverbial muscle swingers that must have it all cost. That's BaT!
    Then, you will have done incredibly well.

    Amazing what you can get out of six cylinders and 1.5 liters. How cool would this thing be in a 930! GL.

    Yeah, brutal. Didn't expect it to be that bad but I took a gamble anyway. Sometimes things don't work out. I was considering listing my '52 Cooper on there, but not worth the risk since it doesn't have any Porsche on it. Although I do have a Porsche sign....
