We checked the parts and started working on the differential. We decided to use and rebuild another differential which is in a much better condition. We are taking some photos while overhauling it and will send you some update about the progress with the photos.



At the moment I am not able to give you an exact date but we will update you soon"

 

Oh that's awesome news Simon. This is all at their cost mate?

 

They've not indicated otherwise Kim fairly large reputation to keep and they've paid the freight over.......watch this space....

 

Still a 400a diff though.

I did ask for a 365 C/W and Pinion though

Can't get them Gizz that's why it's got what it's got.
Modena in Melbourne is pretty sure he can make them at a cost:$10-15K and recon the remainder on top of that.
I won't say any more on that side of things as the dealer is involved...messy situation all round,but yes if nothing else it'll drive of sorts.

As to the original ratio,that is not their war as they were only asked to provide a recond 400a diff as that was all that was available.

Some relief up here,I will have a driving car of sorts.

It's now down to the car dealer to discuss making the car an 'entire' 365GT4 2+2.

 

Yes and given the fairly rapid transport of the crate and the way 'they're' talking I may have it ready for you know what.

Having said that though it could be used as some sort of a 'sweetener' for the car dealer to send the car back to original specifications.....

I gotta say the number of people both on here and elsewhere including the diff mob,who are trying to make this whole grubby situation as good as it can be is very moving.

When it's all over I'll name them,not too difficult to work out for the 'old timers' on here, but it includes both emailing and phoning people around the world.

The knowledge of knowing some of the most influential people of the marque is a revelation,I guess it's because the classic Ferrari family don't like seeing someone come unstuck in such an underhand way from a mob who are suppossed to be leaders in their field...at least that's what I thought at the beginning of this saga.

Very humbling to see and feel 'the love' happening.

Needless to say if it works out for the best outcome,there'll be more than a few shouts going on at the end.

What Simon is going through is an all-to-common experience in the Ferrari world. It's hard to think of another marque where owners are so ruthlessly and comprehensively mistreated by everyone involved, including Ferrari themselves.

A mate of mine has lived 10 years of hell with a 365GT4. He's been ripped off by 3 independent workshops now, all "reputable marque specialists" and he still has a car in pieces that owes him twice what it's worth. People who I used to hold in good regard happily took thousands of dollars from him then treated him appallingly.

 

Funny how that happens.

Not only Ferrari cars ,try complex Racing engines .Heard of one fellow, 2 sets of new heads (50k) per pair ruined by a well know shop...who just thought lets put bigger valves in? & machine out the heads some more ! I just thought Phil I was the master of gas flow and how to tune ..

 

I just don't understand why the previous owner didn't give it to Tim at BSM?
