I remember when the cars were new and everyone, particularly the owners who'd paid for the option, was convinced they were painted.

I seem to recall the myth was dispelled when someone had a slight bit of sticker peeling on the underside of the frunk (?) and questioned it on here or another UK Ferrari forum...

I think CS owners and hard-core shoppers know, but I'd wager many other ferrari fans don't know.

I also recall a car and member here that had an actual painted stripe! (after-market paint job of course). Now that was a "who's on first conversation!"

Interesting. 40K lower than the Blue Med on BAT. Eithersome issues with it or just the power of BAT

It's very difficult to gauge specific market trends on a particular CS's sale's price. Allow to me explain. I bought my CS about a year ago. Prior to finding the car, I went through a nationwide search. At the time, there were probably 6 cars for sale. I evaluated each of them as carefully as I could. Here's an approximate account of a typical conversation I had at the time:

Me: Hi! I calling about the CS you have for sale with 6000 miles on it?
Seller: Oh yes, its such a great car!
Me: How would you describe its general condition?
Seller: Oh, it's in really great condition for a car that was used mostly at the track. You know, that's what these cars were built for."
Me: I see. What is the asking price?
Seller: These cars are really hot right now. And a car with only 6000 miles? Do you know how hard that is to find? Sure, its got a few dings and rash from the track, and the rear diffuser is tore up, but still, its a CS, right?
Me: Yes, yes, very hard to find. What was the price?
    Seller: We need $xxxxx.
Me: Okay, I'll keep that in mind. (Scratch that one!)

So, let's say that car sold for $210,000. What does that price mean to the CS market? I'd say very little. Virtually every car I looked at had a story. When I finally found my car, I paid a premium for it...significantly more than the other 6 cars I called about. With so few cars on the market, I don't think you can really draw conclusions about pricing unless you've inspected a car carefully in association with the price paid.

Well said IMO as someone who searched for 6+ years for a CS w/o stories.
If you read every post in this thread, you see many, many conversations and questions from potential buyers about condition/stories. Several times I have been PM’d warned of a “no stories” car. Hard to find, and happy you got one. In 20 years maybe it wont matter like the F40’s etc.

Wait, the motor has to come out of a 355 to be serviced? Is that included in the warranty?

You can buy the stripe from Ferrari. Now reapaint the car and install the stripe.
When the CS was new guys that had non stripe cars would grind the clear coat, install the stripe decal then clear over it.

Left is Rosso Scuderia and right is Rosso Corsa. I prefer RC on cars with a stripe and RS on cars without stripe.

Oups... just noticed there is a error on the description of my CS listed on your website (http://www.challenge-stradale.com/139724.html). It is rosso scuderia instead of RC... ;-) Also for the history, i bought it on mars 31, 2006 in Germany with 6.500 kms and now almost 16 years later it has 13.880 kms with full history docs. But i am still keeping it and will for an other 16 more years :)
