Prost stated that Alpine leaked this info instead of how they’d agree to release the news, so not sure what is going on at Alpine. For a 4 time champ it always seemed like the Professor didn’t get in the news much for the last few years. Of course his team wasn’t battling Red Bull and Mercedes much, so at least he wasn’t as obnoxious as Horner and Wolf!

It is time for Alpine to show that they are serious...and it begins with giving their two drivers a car that can challenge everyone...including Mercedes and Red Bull.

It seems the boss Laurent Rossi wants all the attention, does not bode well...

My favourite driver Alain Prost doesn't seem to have much luck with French manufacturers:

    - He got shafted as a driver when driving for Renault.
    - Then got shafted by Peugeot as a team owner.
    - Now unceremoniously dumped by Alpine as team adviser.

Compared to that, Prost obtained success at McLaren and Williams, both British team.

    Just saying ... ;)

Fangio won his first WDC at age 40, I believe.

People didn't get in F1 at 17 in Fangio's time, and some raced GP up to 53 (Chiron).
Many early F1 racers (in the 50s) were older than average, because motor racing had been stopped for almost a decade in many countries.
Thus some pre-war drivers were still active after the 10 year gap (***ioli, Kling, Lang, Chiron, etc ... ).
Fangio was of that generation and came late in Europe.

I don't think any team would recruit a 40 years old driver without previous experience in F1. Do you ?

It would all be about his skill and lap times. If he could deliver...and get infront of the team owners to be seen...who knows. It would be fun to see.

I don't think any 40 years old would even be offered a test drive.

People of that age are not what the sponsors want.
