So I purchased a set of carbon fiber panels for my engine bay. The set includes the rear panel below the rear passenger compartment. I did notice Ferrari doesn’t do carbon fiber for that panel in both the Scud and factory carbon panels for the F430.

I haven’t decided if I will replace that rear panel or keep it stock OEM style. When I pull the side panels off this weekend I guess I’ll decide, but has anyone already replaced this panel on their car, it it really just removing the bolts and swapping the rear panel or is there a trick?

Also if you have done the rear panel swap but haven’t yet done your air boxes, can you post a pic? I know it looks great when everything is carbon, but I don’t expect to do my air boxes till the fall as I’ve burned my “extra” hobby money for mods for a few months.

Finally I am also recreating the emissions sticker for the car that is near the gas cap release. I have the art work done for a 2009 and when I finally have the panels swapped I’ll take it to a printer to match the actual decal material and scale my artwork to size. I’ll share the file when I’m done.

    Cheers,
    Corey

Corey, it’s an easy swap…just the four bolts and I think it complements the rest of the engine carbon fiber nicely. Here’s a pic. Also, no carbon fiber air box covers for me.

Thanks for offering the file for the label!

No tricks to getting that panel off, just four 8mm bolts (easy for me to say with everything out of the way!). I understand the F430 has a hole in the large left panel for the gas tank release pull cord - there is no such hole for the Scuderia (I'm not sure all these places that import the panels know that).

I've got the large panels on backorder to replace mine which have a lovely bright, totally white "sunrise" just above exhaust manifolds. Dealer sent them out once to be repaired years ago, but I think they're beyond that now. I'm gonna stick some aluminized heat shield on the inside of the new ones to try to prevent it from happening ever again.

Before buying new, talk to a local body shop. Carbon fiber not go bad, only the clear coat turns color. I had my entire engine bay stripped and re cleared for $1K. They were in bad shape. Now they look new. Side panels and air boxes for 1,000 USD. Much cheaper than replacing the factory bits Image Unavailable, Please Login

Did you lie on top of the engine to do the bolts or did you go from the side?

Corey, I was able to do from the sides. I have long arms, which helps, but it shouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

    Hey Corey,
Who did you buy the engine panels from? I’ve been thinking about changing mine out.

I started with the air boxes. Still haven’t gotten around to side panels. Good for you to start from the other direction!

Corey, would you mind emailing me the emissions sticker? Mine is a 2009 also and CF engine panels are in my future. I’d like to have the sticker made ahead of time. Thx!

Sure, as soon as I'm done I'll actually just post it here.

I need to do a little resizing during the week to get it perfect. I took the panels off yesterday and put on the rear most panel, but didn't have time to get the rest done. I now have the panel out with the decal so I can measure the exact size taking into account the curve of the panel.

    Thanks Corey

If i need to modify the model and part number what do you suggest the best editing program to use

Also where do you suggest printing it be as close as possible as the original backing material

    TIA

Later this week I will be going to a printer to figure out the decal material and color.

For editing I started out with a high resolution picture of the decal, fixed the skew from the curved surface and then used the ML in Pixelmator pro to clean it up. Then I went over the image doing a final cleanup and adjustment manually.

I ordered it through carstickers.com. The airbag sticker is OEM as you can still buy those.

There are two types of stickers. The normal and the permanent adhesive kind. I chose the permanent one so it won't bubble or come off without a razor blade (in case I ever need to refinish the panels). The factory ones on my car had bubbles from the heat and look ugly up close because of it.

I also ordered them to be printed on 3x6 inches decal size and then used a very good art paper slicer to trim a small amount off each side to size. I bought a really good paper trimmer a few years back for 100+ dollars and never thought I'd get good use out of it, since then I have used it so many times because it can do foam, cardboard, paper, vinyl and more... it's actually was a good investment.

Really nice touch to add back the diagrams. Would help for CA smog too. Can I buy one from you in case I go CF panels? Ordered the airboxes from Exotic Car Gear already. What is the PN for sticker you can order from Ferrari?

What year is your car? My emissions sticker is for a 2009. It would need to be modified for other years.

I got the airbag one from eBay but this is the part # 12856780

    Cheers,
    Corey
