Wow….you’re a class act. 2 to 3 ferraris? next time do your homework better because that’s not remotely close. And not sure why that matters. In my experience and from what many others have said on here, Ferrari NA dealers all asks for some level of a deposit. And yes, love it or hate it, I have a GTO engineering swb on order….very much looking forward to it.

You might want to think about why there would be an order without a deposit. Once you've figured that out you can get back to me.

Typically I don't call out people on Fchat for BS because there are a lot of people here who know way more than me (and I know a lot) and you don't know who you're really talking to. Maybe that's something you'll learn too.

A more appropriate response may have been "That's interesting, can you explain how there might be an order without a deposit?" rather than essentially "That's BS." Maybe you could have learned something interesting.

I’m on my 4th Ferrari, and I still happily give a deposit with each order. Not that I care for myself, but at what level does a customer have to be to achieve no-deposit status? (just out of curiosity)

I’m considered to be a good client of my dealership and very friendly with the family that owns it. I’ve always had to give a deposit; it ranges based upon the car at just $10K for Portofino M up to $50K for GTS.

How custom did you go? I haven’t had the patience to go TM but I should have with my GTS as it’s a keeper and going to my son. Good news is SF’s are strong right now. I sold mine when my GTS showed up. It is nice to have had the GTS but the bad was the SF market was not nearly as strong….should have taken my time but i have 6k miles on it and loving it.

Hey guys, quick q cause I don't what to start a whole new thread about it. Plus I just spent three hours at the dealer reconfiguring my spec. By the end I was so fried I almost gave up and bought a Rosso/Cuoio car.:(

Painted shields .... can't decide it it's the most awesome thing ever or the silliest thing ever only for sexually attracting other Ferrari owners. :)

That aside and from a practical pov ... what's the process in the US in case the fender is damaged and needs to be replaced? I'm doing one of those eighty five layer $33k paints to begin with. Does it mean the only way to get a replacement fender with the special paint and painted shields is to have Ferrari do it in Italy at ship it over? Or are there approved bodyshops stateside that can handle it?

    Thanks.

That’s hilarious. I can only speak from experience but I have owned multiple cars in Grigio Ferro (triple layer) and two in Rosso maranello (also triple) Even though triple layer I was able to have a local (very good, Ferrari recommended body shop) do brilliant touch up on some banged up parts. They were all lower aero parts so not sure if I would have felt the same about a bonnet. With that said, the last 7 or 8 cars I have received have had pretty heavy paint correction process so unless it’s something super one off i think you will be ok with the right shop. I didn’t really think about paint correction on the first half dozen or so cars I bought but I read about it here and it really makes a difference. LOVE painted shields….I lack much patience. Send spec if you are ok with sharing

We re sold a bill of goods. Most high end shops are no problem matching. Now the shields are another story. Dunno.

Get what you want, what pleases you. The shields seemed right and I like them.

Rosso car? Try rosso Taormina the new one over pelle chiandra.

See how this Ross fuoco /coiuio looks:

The shield look tiny in profile:

Thank u for the helpful reply.

Isabella informs me that the color I chose hasn’t been chosen on any other GTS in the world yet. I’d like to keep it that way.

Oh what the heck, I can’t keep a secret. It’s transparent lucite. :)

First of all, where have you been the last 18 months?

Second, a few years ago I asked the service manager at one of the largest F dealerships in the country what would happen if painted shields needed to be repainted. He didn't know. I still got them anyway because I'm a sucker.

I imagine there's a known answer to this today. Back when I asked, painted shields were more novel.

    Sorry we couldn’t connect today.

I think painted shields on the car are a must!

Shields make the car. (‘20 Superfast)

When I went to spec my car I had emailed others on here about painted shields and received the following response:

”I would not hesitate, the regular cheap ones are Fiat Abarth and Enzo would turn in his grave. All historical V12 are painted. It’s the work of an artisan versus a shield bolted on.”

I couldn’t agree more. The painted shields are also perfect in size. The badges just look small.

I like them a lot, that's not the issue.

I'm more wondering if anyone knows what the process is if the fender gets damaged and needs to be replaced.

Do the bodyshops in the Ferrari stores know how to repaint them or is something that has to happen in Italy?

It's not a triple or any exotic paint. I was told by my detail guy just color match as you would any flat paint. The triple paint is a whole other ball of wax......

They remove the fender and send back to Ferrari.

I just asked my buddy (who is CEO of several F dealerships) and the GMs from two of those stores the painted shields repair question. My buddy didn't know the answer. Said he would inquire for me. Waiting to hear back from the two GMs. Stay tuned.

Update: One of the GMs thinks it can be painted at Classic Coach in NJ. FNA uses them for paint corrections for shipping damage. But he was not 100% on that and said he would inquire.

FNA also has repair facilities at the port. But not sure if they paint there.

    The other GM didn't know.
