I've mentioned this before but in the 90s the dealer network for Ferrari's in North America wasn't as built out as it is today...and therefore a lot of dealers didn't know what options could be equipped.

For example, in the 90's, if you wanted a Ferrari in Vancouver...you would order it at our local BMW dealer, and most people would just say the colour exterior and interior with which gearbox I imagine. It would take a proactive buyer to seek out what was available from the mothership...and you couldn't exactly Google it back then, let alone sample it in store like today.

I don't think the carbon seats would work on a spider. I seem to recall that the coupe/GTS standard seats are not even interchangeable with the spider seats. I think it's a different track.

Yes. Different track and Spider seats have the seat belt harness built-in from the rear.

If you start getting really creative and run a 4-point harness somehow (ditch OE seatbelts) it would work.

Don’t Spiders have some sort of mechanism where the seats move when you open/close the top?

They do. But if you're already replacing the track to fit the carbon seats you likely would be able to get it work.

One other complication - the carbon seats are taller than standard. Will they fit with the top down?

Considering it’s only slightly taller, I doubt it would be an issue.

Personally don't think they'd look good in a Spider anyway...

So 550 seats are the same as 355 seats ?

    Not exactly.

My theory is Ferrari offered new sizing in 98 for the 355 and 550. Narrow and Large options for both cars. Most 355's are fitted with Narrow, while 550's are fitted with Large. However, you were able to order Narrow or Large for either car. My theory is they used the same Narrow and Large carbon buckets for both cars, but the styling and upholstery work for the 355 and 550 is clearly different. Mounting holes are also different.

Design wise, belt hole styles and position are different. Center seat design is most obviously different.

Carbon buckets, carbon side covers, and reclining mechanisms are all the same respectively. Meaning a Narrow 355 seat and Narrow 550 seat share the same components minus the seat styling etc...

Narrow sizes on a 550 would be rare to come across. Large sizes on a 355 would be rare to come across, but I've come across a handful already. @Tarek307 has Large seats. Have yet to come across Narrow seats on a 550. My eyes are now trained to spot the size differences :).

To mount the eyelets for the harness, what’s going on with bracket #7? How are people holding the eyelet in place (besides a washer/bolt) ?

Late to the discussion but a Spider I recently looked at had gold callipers. I thought it odd but obviously a thing
