I'm one of those strange people whom doesn't really care (beyond a certain point) how my daily commuter car drives. As long as it's not a ****ing SUV, I'm happy. Hell, I'm about to sell the Golf R and replace it with a boggo version because even though I really like it I just don't use or care about the performance while I'm snoring my way to work. Even so, I'd still bet the BMW handles better than the Tesla.
Couldn't do it, mate. I drove all the sporty Audis a couple of years ago (virtually all the S and RS versions available at the time), and although they were nice cars and fast in a straight line, they just didn't do it for me. Something seemed to be missing. And, as I said, for my daily boring drive spending more than about 30k seems a waste of money. What I'd like to do is get Chloe into something like the i4, I'll have the boring dog-wagon, and we have the sporty car for special occasions / driving holidays. And that'll be the Emira after September.
Mum and Dad love theirs they have a Model S. Dad says its the best car they've owned. It replaced a DB9 so I'm not quite as enthusiastic but hey its not my car!!
Yes, I’m never giving up my dinosaurs, but for the average person who just wants to get from A to B in airconditioned comfort, an electric appliance is all they need (and the Tesla performance and handling is waaaaay above anything they’ll get in a regular car).
Exactly! Anyone who doesn't have their head stuck firmly up you know where can see that. It's different but better, if you consider "fit for purpose"
I agree totally, I can’t wait to get an electric car for day to day driving. I love the Tesla, it’s awesome to drive. It’s strange in a way as you hardly need to brake. As soon as you get off throttle the car slows by itself, so brakes will last a long time. You can switch the aircon on 5 minutes before you leave so it’s cool inside, so many cool things. They are planning a road trip up to Cooktown, just organising charging stops. I think they look very stylish, especially for an American designed car!!
There's discussion on whether or not that ship fire with Bentleys, VWs and Porsches was caused by the battery of an EV. *sigh*
First instruction when my 308 was being fettled upon purchase: strip out the aircon. Compressor has been sitting on my garage floor for nearly 20 years now...
As far as I’m concerned, airconditioning is the devil’s work; I avoid it all costs. I honestly believe that fresh air is one of the best health aids you can have. I would love to see a proper study done to compare covid infection rates between people in natural and unnatural ventilation situations. We know anecdotally that natural is better, but I’d like to see it proved properly. Besides, I drive my car with the roof off more often than not.
I agree fresh air is healthy, but in a motor car in cities, breathing in all those contaminates with the windows down or roof off, like carbon monoxide & all the smog that exists, rather than have filtered air in the car, seriously...
