Yeah, it’s fun finding these places. “Provenance” in Beechworth VIC is another good restaurant and has nice accommodation too. Mel and I are doing a road trip to Mudgee in a couple of months, not been up that way for a very long time. Researching places to eat and will report back
Please report back, if you get to Mornington Peninsula you must try 'Ten Minutes By Tractor' or Polperro & The Merricks General Store for breakfast or lunch. We did Mudgee last year but sadly every place we tried to get into of note was booked out. If you go further afield to McLaren Vale SA you must do the Salopean Inn, Russels Pizza in Port Willunga, Star of Greece or Pearl in Aldinga.
Most of the best food is found away from the city, IMO. Hardy’s Verandah at Mt. Lofty where we ate a couple of weeks ago is outstanding. So is Hentley Farm in the Barossa. Fino at Seppeltsfield has excellent food in beautiful surroundings. So many amazing pubs and restaurants in the Hills, Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Clare Valley. Some great experiences in the outback too. Prairie Hotel is famous for its unusual but very good food.
So are you against a good restaurant in the bush, I guess it’s a little like you expecting a better accommodation offering than some of the blokes…horses for courses
No, definitely not against it, I wish! Just no options in some places - worst ever was Richmond (between Mt Ias and T’ville - only one place open, everything out of frozen packets served on dodgy crockery on a plastic table with black and gold salt and pepper containers on the table - at 5 star prices.
Had a great meal at the pub in Richmond last October.[emoji3][emoji3] Silly signature here to annoy KIAI
Plenty of good food out in the rural /bush areas ,anyone who reckons different has NEVER traveled far . Take the Flinders Rangers and The Prairie Hotel ....people travel from all over the world (DID) to sample the game food . Plus the bonus is hundreds of miles of open road to enjoy during DAYLIGHT.. Mile after mile I sat on 200kph .. AS I said I enjoyed the drive in the "Conti" 1st big drive after the cancer stuff! Following year I took her to Canberra and did the highspeed run on the Hume .. I should have kept that Bentley ,so rare and perfect for BDC events. Image Unavailable, Please Login
