The easiest work around would be to make the venturi tunnel smaller (either in height or width), if it's neccessary. This being F1 however, and 1 or 2 teams being clear, I doubt they can successfully implement this. Yes the FIA now holds the power to make decisions without needing unanimous decisions...I'd be surprised at this one. I imagine it would be quite the scandal say if Ferrari was the fastest, floors get modified and they're suddenly 3rd.

Flat floor however, imagine how epic these cars would look on tv...proper handful!

Yeah I had kinda wondered if maximizing the Venturi tunnels is actually a negative thing and perhaps over all balance is really much for critical to the winning formula.

This requires significant tunnel area when the car is actually scraping on the ground.

Is the 3-D shape of the tunnel restricted by the rules ? If so, there may be no solution.

The "porpoising" only happens on the straights. CFD or 1:6 scale wind tunnel tests cannot recreate this effect.

DRS seems to alleviate the problem momentarily.

    Teams will either:

    1) Lower the nose (create more downforce up front)
    2) Stiffer suspension
    3) Redo the floor

I'll tell you this much. Wouldn't very much like this porpoising effect in fast corners like copse, pouhon, blanchimont, eau rouge....

They front wing of the Alfa looks so high compared to the other cars. That surely has to change.

Russell: Mercedes behind Ferrari and McLaren so far in testing

George Russell believes Ferrari and McLaren look “very, very competitive” so far in Formula 1 pre-season testing, leaving Mercedes “behind them at the moment”.

Russell completed 66 laps in the afternoon session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Thursday after taking over from Lewis Hamilton in the lunch break, and ended the day sixth-fastest.

Charles Leclerc managed to set the pace for Ferrari ahead of Pierre Gasly and Daniel Ricciardo, having finished second yesterday behind McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Russell said after his session on Thursday that he was finding the test “really intriguing” as teams got up to speed with their new 2022 cars, offering a “different dynamic”.

“We’re seeing some interesting things out there, that’s what testing is for,” Russell said.

“Some teams are looking pretty fast. A red team and an orange team in particular look very, very competitive. So let’s see what tomorrow brings and what we can do between this test and Bahrain.”

Asked where he thought Mercedes sat, Russell replied: “Certainly not ahead, [I’m] pretty sure of that.

Come on, could someone check Russell's overall, was he hiding sand bags? LOL.

what he said is pretty much an exact rehash of any testing session since 2014, lol. He's been paying attention...haha

After just 2 days of testing, the Mercedes camp is already pulling the underdog card? I see they trained George well.

That would be the only bag they’d find with anything in it.
