Agreed. Illot or Schwartzman would smoke Fittipaldi.

Yeah but because Michael Andretti will be there (with Romain Grosjean in the DHL car) it's now relevant to F1 :):p:D

It's almost time to make my picks for the overall winner again. I got last year right so let's see who is on deck. Some longshots like Norris will be laid down. Can't wait!

I predicted that the title would go to Verstappen last season, but never expected it would finish like that.

It's a bit early to take my pick for this year yet.

I will watch how Ferrari and McLaren will go during the next tests.

Well I'll rule out russell as I don't think they will they let him win over hamilton. Same goes for Perez and sainz...more than likely Danny ric as well. I think my top picks are ham, max, Norris, leclerc, gasly, and ocon.

Let's see a little more testing and the odds.

You realize Silly Season is about driver moves/replacements that occur each season. This is not a predictive thread about who might win anything.

Right now the immediate drive move or replacement is Mazepin's seat at Haas.

That was in a couple press sources. I dont see how Maze-spin keeps his seat.

Maze-spin should have been fired at the end of the test yesterday. Contractually Haas can tell Uralka-liars to p-ss off and not worry much lol.

Andretti keeps saying he has backers. Great. Why dont those backers - support Haas and move on and then be in F1. They dont need Andretti. He has no money or a deal on motors yet. They have said they are talking with Renault and others. Backers wanting in F1 can just move past Andretti, fill the seat for Haas and be in F1. No FIA required.

Maybe the backers don't see Haas as a team that can fullfil their F1 ambitions, or Gene Haas may not wish their interference in his operations?

Haas: Fittipaldi to get 'first call' if Mazepin can't drive

    If Renault releases him.

Poor Schwartzman, I don't think Russian drivers bring good image, unfortunately for him.

Did Illot or Schwartzman win any championship above F3? Because Fitiipaldi did...

I think he was referring in a special situation like that of Grojean's crash.

Schwartzman was 2nd in F2, behind Schumacher. He started off strong in the beginning but then weened off.

Illot has alot of experience in racing in different motorsport series, alot more than Fittipaldi.

I saw something from ESPN saying Ferrari would like Giovanssi to replace Mazepin.

True. And don't underestimate Ferrari's influence at Haas.

Can't drive as in slowest driver in the field, or
Can't drive because of being called up to serve, or
    Can't drive because of politics.

We know he has no business behind the wheel of an F1 car.

    :p

Some here would disagree with that ideology because he has a superlicense. I would put your ideology with a couple of current driver's on the F1 grid.....but I digress.

Yep, we all know Haas owes Ferrari a LOT from start up.
