Peter you are wrong. If I decided to track the car as I did with the red car,I would not be competitive end of story.
Awww....you finally quoted me. How sweet. Easy....because, even though it's a big difference, and let me say right now, I wouldn't be happy with that diff, the reality is that if Simon ends up with that diff, in the real world, for him, it'll make no practical difference. It'd be a total b***h if he was using it as a daily in Sydney or Melbourne traffic though.
That's what you say, but I'm not so sure. You say it as if it's fact. I could see the wrong diff being beneficial at Lukey Heights, turn 2 and Siberia, but not so much at Honda and that little corner after Lukey. Also beneficial coming onto the straight. That's my opinion. Feel free to prove me wrong. BTW.....I've asked before and you didn't answer. What is the RPM difference between the two diffs in top at 100kph? SFA I'll bet. 200rpm? 300rpm? Big deal. Like I said, not ideal, but it's not like you lose top gear because of it. I don't know how many times I need to say the same thing over and over.....in the real world, if you run out of options, it won't be the end of the world.
Jeezus you're difficult! In your real world with the auto diff I'd be changing clutches every 1000klms due to the amount of slip necessary to take of from standstill,on or off the track.
Do you think you can answer my question? It was quite simple. Simon, it's not ideal....but if that's what you're stuck with (again) it's not the end of the world and you'll be fine and total BS about the clutch BTW
Correct.. A driver like yourself whom has done many rally events , drives on the torque band (as I witnessed on various drives) You woud have picked up in a flash the lack of torque through the gears when within the torque band. Next time Greg is down , off to BSM we go and I'm sure Tim will have the geat ratios and torque band figures for a 365 as you have purchased ......just a matter then off doing a graph and a line through the torque band of your motor/gears to an Auto diff. It will be significant when matched to the correct 365 motor, gears and diff range . Might come in handy if it goes pear-shape with the claim. Lets hope it works out and we get to chase each other on GAD and GG..
Let me know what date suits and the three of us will go out to Tims and line up a graph for Simon re the 365 vs 400 and the diff ratios . or I reckon Ian...will have the details to do it ?
Now that restrictions are off we'll be back to regular programming and coming down every 6 weeks or so. We love Melbourne, especially the weather, hasn't stopped raining here since November lol
Been great down here the weather , not one day have I been unable to Swim due to crook weather. Be great just to confirm with Tim what we know re the 365/400 diff.
When I had my Brabham. I had a Hewland gear chart for the gearbox, just a slight change of ratios would make a difference as per the graph ...it was always fun working ones way throught the gears and setting up the ratios for the next meet.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Will the person here who is a mechanical engineer and can show us his degree stick his hand up and stop all this BS floating around here. All they need is a torque curve, gearbox ratios , diff ratios and wheel/tyre diameter to work it out ............. I could but I'm too ****ing lazy to bother
I’m about to head off over the northern Pacific on my milk run..I’ve asked the engineers to install the long diff as it’s a great circle track…
