I just want to libraries to keep running for my retirement days, when i need to go somewhere air conditioned to sleep and look at free magazines.
Save energy and water costs...with someone to clean the toilets
not to mention WiFi too..

so go and support them

 

Err that is what shopping centres are for when your retired ..or Macca's FFS who goes there and shows a seniors card to get a small coffee or orange juice with your muffin ?

When I was recovering from my illness, my FQ one has these great seats ,with a large window looking out onto a park ...was a nice feeling sitting there or having a nap....

Till the schools ended , one would open ones eyes to see Trinty school boys peeing on the BBQ tops ...

I agree, online & nearly all books now on my iPad, easy to read at night & not upset the boss lying next to you because you might have to turn a light on…win win

 

I'm a great fan of talking books at the moment working through Ian Rankin Rubus & Joy Ellis novels

 

As Mike says, it’s demographics... Coolum Library is a lovely little building and I can request pretty much any book you can name and they’ll get it on an inter-library loan. I can also get it as an E-book from them. It’s also my ‘home office’- I can do A3 colour scans and prints for peanuts. I send files direct to the machine from my home computer and go down (2min walk) when I’m ready to pick them up (scan my card to print and pay). Lots of the oldies go there in summer to read the papers and magazines in airconditioned comfort. I cooled my heels in the State library in Bris for an hour or so last Sat.

 

Have to have a paper book to rest my eyes and lull me to sleep last thing at night. Picked up Nick Cave’s “And the Ass saw the Angel” on the weekend - brilliant writing, but a bit too black a tale for my mindspace over the past few days...

 

The Boston Public Library is without doubt one of the worlds GREAT libraries ..and well worth a visit if ever in Boston.

In fact Boston is a city well worth visiting ,,,,its alive ..
