Well, that takes care of that.

Now Haas must be looking for another sponsor and a new driver.

It doesn't look good for Haas, 2 weeks from the begining of the season.

F1 is a harsh sport as Haas can attest. First the embarrassment of the Rich Energy sponsorship, now this. You win, lose, survive, and die by what appears sometimes to be unfair circumstances.

I don't have a crystal ball, but come on, Silverstone is ONE race, they put Fittipaldi in the car, and life goes on. Sure, they might get rid of the Mazepin millions and his driving, but they always have options. Shoot, I'll drive for free!

Sure they have options available, Hulkenberg, Giovanazzi, Fittipaldi, Piastri. The more worrying thing would be sponsors to bring in money for development.

Well, they chose their sponsors. We need them to do better and be competitive; the more competition in the sport the better.

Looks like Mazepin has been cleared to race in F1. However, he won't race under his flag but under the FIA flag.

If he ends up racing in the UK, I'm sure his reserve driver will step in for him IF the UK doesn't let him race.

That's fine. As long as they are still required to make at least one stop for tyres and it must be before 8 laps from the end, depending on the length of the circuit.

F1 has cancelled its contract with the Russian Grand Prix promoter.

No more F1 in Russia for the future.

The animosity between MB and RB is going to get worse if that is even possible.

Car should be a competitive one if they want to survive.

Fittipaldi is going to make Mazepin look like Fangio. I don't even know how he got his F1 license.

Well, maybe I overstated it, but apart from that his career was not spectacular, and the Formula V8 is not the same since it's not Formula Renault anymore. Giovinazzi at least made F3 and F2 with some success.

Horner wants urgent discussion of F1 budget cap
    2:50 AM ET
    • Reuters

Formula One needs an urgent discussion of its budget cap as teams are squeezed by inflation, high energy costs and rising interest rates, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said on Friday.

The sport's current cap is $140 million a year per team, with some items such as driver salaries not included, down from $145 million in 2021. It is due to drop to $135 million next season.

Horner told reporters during pre-season testing in Bahrain that jobs could be at risk as tightly-controlled budgets were eroded.

Most of the teams are based in Britain, where inflation is set to reach its highest level since the early 1980s and energy prices have surged.

The biggest outfits, such as Red Bull, had to shed staff to meet last year's cap.

"What you have to remember is when the budget cap was set back in the midst of the pandemic, in the middle of 2020, nobody could have foreseen the circumstances that we have in the world today," Horner said.
