For 430/360 is the only way to tell you have a gated car to have the actual build sheet or can you tell from the VIN?

The dealer can confirm via VIN.

@67bmer Just out of curiosity, I do not see anything that proves it was factory gated. Is the absence of the F1 trans in the options list how to prove it is factory gated?

The F1 system is an option, the manual transmission is the standard. The build sheet only shows non-standard things. I checked my build sheet right after I got my car and can confirm this is the case.

I got my build sheet by joining the "My Ferrari" website. I had to prove I owned the VIN before they would let me in, so it only works if you own the car.

Believe many of the EAG kits are using modified F1 brake pedals at this point, so that is another way to tell.

Additionally, the factory gated 360s have a cavallino on the shift plate. Conversions would generally not have this as it is copyright infringement. That plate would obviously be machined as well, where the factory was cast and polished.

The cavallino on the shift plate seems like a fairly reliable way to find a conversion. However, is there anything keeping someone with a conversion from buying an OEM shift plate? I can't tell if they are still available from Ferrari, but there are several used ones for sale. A $3000 shift plate could significantly increase the value of a conversion if the seller wanted to be shady.

NLA from Ferrari. There are many other ways to tell also (pedals, machine vs cast parts, etc).

At least on the F430 you could order the manual with the shift pattern on the plate. Without the cavallino.

    I was wondering about the
    Drive... M03
Then the options and MSRP. I think F1 may have been an $18,000 option.

It was probably us cheapskates that got the manuals - lol!! Everyone wanted to be like Michael Schumacher at the time.

I bought a used manual because I always intended to do my own maintenance and the F1 seemed too complicated and expensive for me. I had absolutely no idea or premonition they would become desirable or have a cost premium!

I think you can't look at the options, the window sticker has the F1 as a standard feature if your car was so equipped. So I'm guessing there is an equivalent in the OEM manual cars. I also wouldn't use OEM parts as a way to determine if a car is a factory manual. Until recently, maybe past 2 or 3 years, you could get OEM parts to convert a car.

There's a sheet that you can get from a dealership called a "MODIS build sheet" - I've attached a copy for my 430. In the upper right where I've circled F430 Coupe USA, signifies 6 speed manual. If it was an F1 it would read - F430 coupe F1 USA.

I just looked at an F1 on BaT and you are correct. Its window sticker basically says the exact same thing as mine. The F1 is not in its options list. Looks like the only indication is the port of entry retail price. The transmission descriptions are the same since they are the same transmission.

Wouldn’t the 6 speed manual not say “sequential” in the feature description like it does on my window sticker?

Just noticed my model description is F430 Coupe F1. So what does your manual 360 sticker say and what does that 360 F1 say? Maybe they are technically different models.

This is for my factory gated 430. Only indication on the sticker is “f430 coupe” in the model description rather than “f430 coupe f1”

I do not think that Selespeed means F1. Looking at window stickers on BaT both the gated and F1 show "Selespeed" in the standard equipment column.

This seems possible for the 360 as well. The 04 gated on BaT has Model Desc: 360 Modena and the 04 F1 has Model Desc: 360 Modena F1.

Is there a way to know if the original window sticker is lost? I tried get a new Monroney label online, but the website just gives an error saying that Ferrari does not provide the information needed to get a new copy.

Looking at all these window stickers reminds me of walking through a BMW lot where every variant of the 3-serries had a different brand of tire. Given their relationship with Bridgestone at the time, I am surprised they weren't more common.

I think you are correct, its in the model description at the top!

At least they are honest about it ;) That’s funny, never noticed that before. Doesn’t seem like they put much effort into these window stickers…
