I have an '87 328 that came with some aftermarket Vitaloni door mirrors. They are manual adjust. They look OK, but when you look close you can see the base does not match the OEM base exactly. My question is what were the original mirrors for my US spec car? Who was the manufacturer? From the pics they look similar to the 308 mirrors. l would really like to go back to the setup that can use the electrical adjustments. Thanks.

The USA Market 328's used the same square electric flag mirrors as the USA Market 308 QV's.

They are similar to Vitaloni Baby Tornado model, for US cars.

The Euro cars are similar the Vitaloni Turbo models.

*Similar. From what I’ve heard the Turbo are smaller than the Ferrari Eurl specs. I haven’t check the US cars ve the Tornado.

I was looking to change my square mirrors, for euro, but I was quoted like $2k for used mirrors. No way

Mine Vilaloni mirrors are similar in style to the Euro ones. Did Veglia Borletti make any OEM 328 mirrors?

No.....the Flag mirrors used on USA 308/328 QV's were of German origin (ELEKTRA) and were also used by FORD on Capri's in Europe.

NOS stock sets pop up from time to time on Ebay,

Indeed, Brian; but Rod, in his post above, said he was tempted to change his [U.S] rear view mirrors for "euros", but decided that at 2.000 $ for "euro" mirrors, that was too much...well, it's actually difficult to find a pair of "euro" mirrors these days here for under 2.500 euros...

You’re right, it was just a bague reference in mi mind. Around or above that sum of money for mirrors was just worthless.

I asked Eurospares, last month for the used ones and they replied:

it seems to me like the F badges are non original from the mirrors.

or, is it like that OEM? I mean crooked and above the letters

And while we are here, so we can say the Euro mirrors are built by Vitaloni, but are not the Vitaloni baby turbo models.

    Is this Correct?

    Are you completely sure?
These look very similar to my mirrors…. But they could be for Fiat, I don’t know.

PS: or maybe the seller just don’t know the brand. I read somewhere in the pictures, made in W Germany.

Veglia Borletti did NOT supply Ferrari with external rear view mirrors.

The USA Market 308 QV's and 328's as well as AUSTRALIA market cars had mirrors by UNI ELEKTRA from West Germany.

The genuine UNI-ELEKTRA mirrors do not have drain holes in bottom like those you pictured.

Euro, UK and ROW market cars had Vitaloni Turbo mirrors (Not Baby Turbo's which are Non Electric).

Thats not true. I have a box full of 328 UNI ELECTRA mirrors in a box and 2 QVs in the shop and they all have the 3 holes in the bottom. One of which at least is not a drain hole.

Those are exactly what the later 328s came with. Earlier cars had no badge.

The USA flag mirrors are not as nice looking as euro ones. The DOT federal mandates really screwed up a lot of stuff on the original design bumpers, exhaust, marker lights , etc…

GBP 995 is about 1.200 euros, not taking VAT into account (we have to add it to anything coming from the UK since Brexit), so about 1.450 euros VAT included, or 2.900 for a pair.
Yes it is absurd, but should you break a foglight here, then "the sky is the limit": I've seen a pair of NOS advertised for 7.700 euros...

    Brian,

Well that means there was variations on the mirrors doesn't it? And I see no evidence that Veglia Borletti was the manufacturer as per the Ebay ad the OP linked.

So as a concours judge what is correct for what year then?

Can you take a photo to show us how the base is different? I ask because I have an 89 GTS with US flag mirrors and I have a set of the large EURO Vitaloni's I would like to put on in place of the flag mirrors. I have the EURO turn signals on order to compliment the EURO look. I'll have to live with the side markers.
