I do like the contrast of those red seats, I went thru the Makela build pix, those cars are quite the journey. All I did was push a car outside then back in for the rain

It’s crazy because they even built the whole frame like a reverse image and changed one of the digits on the VIN too. :D

Paint is pretty new so I sure hope it’s shiny.

Rifledriver, pistons are Wossner 82mm 10.5:1, rods are stock. Your pistons look totally flat or even has a depression, what are those? Your rods look aftermarket too. Peter.

I put a set of those in a 308 2 years ago. Made a nice improvement. Those are 4 valve pistons made by Wiseco. 1.5 mm bigger and stroked 4.5 mm. They are Crower rods shortened and with the big end made to fit Honda racing bearings. Its 3.5 liter with 10.7;1 Big torque improvement.

That sounds like an awesome setup, huge upgrade and must make some nice power. Cheaper bearings a plus, did you re-nitride the crank?

Yes I did. Thats why the crank pins have a little bit of a brown color to them. Also needed to remove some material from the counter weights. Make room for the pistons with the longer stroke. The piston and rod combo was quite a bit lighter so losing some weight in the counterweights was not an issue and the Crower rods are a bunch stronger.

Looks good as well. Any tips on removing the rubber gasket so it doesn't tear? Did you glue it back in place once the material was in place?

Kent it’s really easy, the rubber seal just simply pulls up but pull it from the bottom where it pinch the vinyl and the metal, hopefully the seal is not glued on, then once you remove the rubber seal, you can then see the vinyl and it’s usually glued on originally and you can just pry it around to remove it.

With the new cover, I never did glue it back on, i just pushed down the new rubber seal over the vinyl to pinch and hold the new vinyl cover in place.

I have never had long term luck not gluing them. I use a bunch of those heavy duty spring type paper clips. Screw the openings around latches in place then clip the cover in place over the entire circumference pulling out all the wrinkles. Then take off a couple of clips at a time gluing it in small sections reinstalling clips as I go. After glue is all set, take clips off and reinstall rubber. With a new blade, use Exacto knife or razor blade trim off excess material sticking out from under rubber.
Some of those fit very well and some do not. The trick is using the right zipper and the right light weight stretchy material. If the zipper is too stiff or not curved right prior to sewing it to the material it will wrinkle or bunch where the curve was forced. If it is too heavy material getting it very smooth and wrinkle free is impossible.

My apologies for the late reply, Kent.

    www.awitalian.com

Their shipping was fast. I ordered a engine deck lid release cable from them, too. I followed up with a thank you phone call. They appreciated that so much that they sent me a free to me t-shirt. I’d certainly recommend them.

Thank you for the comment. Dane
