Agree, the bias is so strong on that crew but Hill takes the cake. He’s taken on the role of defender of St. Lewis, even implying that FIA are afraid to take away Max’s “illegitimate” crown for fear of “another war” in Europe. The replies to his ridiculous comment are hysterical and his comebacks are frankly disturbing. But his pals on Sky will never call him out on this behaviour, I suspect. Horner can be an ass no doubt, but Toto is on another world of *********. He behaves an absolute toddler when the slightest thing goes wrong. Gives the entire sport a bad look when he throws his headphones, screams, slams his fist on the laptops, and curses out the stewards when they ever rule against one of his drivers. Makes Mercedes struggles this year lovely to see if they hold up.
I still maintain that Horner is the sharpest guy on the pit wall even if he’s the “enemy” but, yeah, Toto seems to me a totally disingenuous, vengeful *****.
Very happy to be in a real race weekend! FP3 won’t reveal much, so qualifying will be great! After watching FP1-2 today, what is up with RIC? I know he had some mechanical issue, but he was well off Lando. Also, literally no mention of the only rookie, other than a tedious discussion of how to pronounce his name. The Sky team need to up their game in my opinion. Several times the TV coverage had the wrong tire displayed for drivers on track as well, even after they set a new time. Oh well, it’s early yet. Here’s to good racing and no crashes, although it will be interesting to see some of the inter-team battles this season. LEC and SAI should have a great season and work well together.
Mostly the aerodynamics holding the car down, but then releasing the car up, then back down, repeat repeat repeat.
Sky Sports actually brings a disgrace to F1 with their biased commentary. Crofty calling the Dutch fans as "cheering in the buttground/background" in the last race was the epitome. Commentators are supposed to be neutral, atleast with their global coverage. It's painful enough that there seems no way to get the crew changed other than their whims and fancies. A mechanism where the crew is rotated or changed after 3-4 years will be helpful in bringing some fresh air to the people listening. It's a shame to watch a race on mute just so that my ears don't start paining. Button and Rosberg gone!!! That is really bad for the F1 community!! The girl would eventually get there, hopefully, but till then we have to listen to the rants from Ted and Crofty.
No point in trying to guess what is actually happening with the cars. Tomorrow we will see who really is fastest, vs who only looked fast in the early practices. Where did Vettel disappear to? When I look at the cars of the 80s, with the driver's legs in front of the front axel, that was F1. But the FIA is stuck and unable to admit they are wrong in all their cost saving and environmental decisions. As others have said, reduce the cars' size and the weight will disappear, as will much of the overly complex aero. Return to open testing, even if just for one month before the season begins, and you will have a much better quality of car show up on the first F1 weekend. Someone will win this Sunday, but it won't be the quality of race that used to expect from F1.
Well I hope he's right but that doesn't make sense...You want as much usable data as possible for the race in similar conditions (remember yesterday was the first time they really drove in race-like conditions), and with carlos being quite a way off on his longer (but not nearly as long as Max) race stint...I call that questionable.
I honestly believe right now it doesn't matter who they put alongside Max. He'll have him beat to pretty much the same standards Gasly, Albon and Perez have been. I do think certain drivers (Leclerc, Lewis, Sainz, Ricciardo, Norris) will be closer but Max will still be a step clear. The step forward he made in Monaco 2018, he's never looked back, only kept improving. Gasly is a seriously fast driver, and I was actually quite worried he might give Max a serious run for his money, but then was completely beaten into submission.
I have to say this is pretty unusual as a procedure but I have never see Charles so happy after a FP 2. Today should be very very interesting..
I find it utterly disgusting and disturbing that "gentleman" Hill uses the pain and suffering of the Ukrainian people to make "his point".
It would be nice to have someone who isn’t completely tone deaf and biased doing the commentary. Is he doing commentary all season? Can’t we get someone benign and likable like Massa, Button, Webber, or anyone who doesn’t make an ass of himself?
I would really like to see that complete idiot Crofty replaced by Button (or of course David Coulthard, but I think he's with Channel 4 still). He and Brundle get along really well. Other outlier could be Rosberg as his commentary is really impressive. Crofty and Hill can be on a separate channel on F1 Tv called the british cheering section or something. They're so overly biased it's painful. It's only natural that people gratify more towards other people (yes even commentators can and do), but there's a limit. They're supposedly professionals. Crofty and Hill are both so utterly biased...
Nice. This was a suggestion made by I think Brundle during the pre-season tests. The taller tyre makes it really hard to see.
