He is, but he kind of invites himself to it by dressing (seriously) unconventionally. People are going to take the piss out of that. And also because of his constant contradictory statements and actions on track. People often quickly catch on to the fact when a person says A but does B, and call him out for it.

I actually found the story of Lewis adding his mothers name to his to be very sweet, imho. I like seeing that side of him.

Lewis loves his family and people giving him **** for that are totally out of line, as others were for getting on Max for being crazy about his father despite Jos's well known issues.

I say this as a strong critic of Hamilton.

Agree, Family jokes are out of order imo. The driver is a public person, the family is not. I think there must be limits, and that's mine. As far as i can tell, both Hamilton father (a bit more present in races and on camera) and his mother very private have been always normal well behaved folks, even very classy in some moments like last year when elton's father went on to compliment Jos. Just respect for them.

Lets be real here, the cowboy boots nullifies the weirdness factor. Schumi knew exactly what he was doing.

In all fairness, wanting to look like a cowboy isn’t quite as outlandish as wanting to look like a participant in Ru Paul’s Drag Race.

    This!

Anthony Hamilton = a true gentleman.
and Lewis' Mum seems like a very kind and genuinely nice person to me.
So all respect to both of them!

3rd place , 3rd best car. Lots of room
For improvement… he won’t beat max or Leclerc this year but a good opening race, without much fault.

Certainly proved again that, as a racing driver, the guy is good.

Of course I’m already reading it’s because of 2 dnfs and that is true … but that’s part of racing

It's Lewis, Lucky Lewis. As ever.

Lolo couldn't pass anyone today. Stayed in the race and was lucky that the 2 RB's DNF'ed in front of him.

The British press no doubt will rave about Lewis being there at the right moment, how he relentlessly took advantage of the opportunity.

Reality is as Ferrari showed today, and as Mercedes showed these past 7 seasons, how incredibley important it is to have a good car.

Very true. We shall see if Mercedes can improve through the year, right now, this could very well be as good as it gets for them.

To my opinion he is a bigger threat for Ferrari this year than Verstappen because Honda retirement.

    No, don't think so.

And I don't think it's the Honda part. Verstappen was already complaining early into the race about traction/diff. issues.

Which seem easier to resolve than the overall performance/downforce issues Mercedes has.

Also think about the budget cap. Teams have limited resources to improve.

It's Ferrari, RB and then a bigger gap to Mercedes. That's the current line-up IMO.

    Never underestimate Mercedes,
They will try to bypass the budget cap.
    No doubt.

I think you are right. For years Mercedes used to throw money at solving problems.

The budget cap puts an end to that, and if you are in a technical blind alley, you have to wait the next year to change course.

I don't think they will be alone doing that ! Here, like everywhere there are loopholes to exploit!

Does anyone knows exactly how that budget cap is supposed to work?

I mean teams from different countries, different tax systems, etc ...

How can they harmonise that? Labour cost vary widely between Italy and Switzerland, or Britain and the USA, etc ...

Most teams work from 2 locations (Haas 3!), with different currencies, etc ... The rates of inflations are different, etc ...
