Next is race 2 this upcoming weekend! Blindingly fast circuit with now heavier cars and more stressed brakes. What can go wrong lol!??? Ferrari have to be the favorites - good on tires, no major issues overall but lacking a touch of top/straight line speed. RedBull will respond of course. They no where to go but up lol Weather is perfect - Race Day is 34C day /18C night As always, how will the tires work this round??
Damn! Houthi attack on Aramco distribution plant in Jeddah causes fire: Coalition https://english.alarabiya.net/News/gulf/2022/03/20/Houthi-attack-on-Aramco-distribution-plan-in-Jeddah-causes-fire-Coalition
Naaaah........it's just a fuel pump issue. Gasly's was an MGU-K issue plus the fire.....he's probably going to need a new PU plus components and possibly a new gearbox
We can further assess all these new rules and performance points again soon! Via the BBC F1 - https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/60816496 Have the rules worked? The new rules were introduced to bring the field closer together and to make racing and overtaking easier. Have they worked? It's too hard to say right now. There is still a sizable gap between the two fastest teams and the rest of the field. The drivers agreed that it was perhaps a little easier to follow more closely behind another car. Perhaps this was a factor in allowing Leclerc and Verstappen to battle for two whole laps in the way they did. Hamilton was also able to stick with Perez for a surprisingly long time early in the race. But he dropped back - and he did so partly because his car lacked the inherent pace, but also because he had rooted his tyres. And this is the biggest concern. Privately, some drivers were damning about the new Pirellis. F1's tyre supplier was supposed to be designing tyres that were more robust and allowed drivers to run closer to the limit in races for longer and race harder with other cars. But the margin between qualifying lap times and those in the race was little different to last year and degradation remained high. It is far too early to make any definitive conclusions about either the car changes or the tyres. Perhaps things will look different in future races. But for now it does not appear as if racing has been revolutionised by the new rules.
RedBull update Red Bull problems during Bahrain GP were not caused by fuel pump, sources around the team and FIA confirm.
I hope Ferrari can keep the fantastic results going. That said, I fully expect Red Bull to push like crazy to make up for lost points. It should be interesting.
Dear Ferrari, Thank you for locking the strategists in the bathroom in Bahrain. This week, please give all the strategists a schedule showing the race start time 6 hours later than actual… the drivers said they will pull the strategists’ load… Signed, All Tifosi
Team looking much happier during the race and the result had them ecstatic so the high will continue into the next race. Our drivers looked very very very happy. Seems mojo is back I know its just one race out of 23 but all indicators are our car is great we are not playing catch the other teams are playing catch up. As for the RB having higher top speed over ours RB during the Vettel era and after their cars were set up for speed through the corners and not down the straight. So I don't see lack of top speed an Achilles heel of our car. Our experts here (Bas and Joe just to name 2) can correct/educate me on this point.
We saw good racing and nobody really complained about the tires but BBC writes an article about how Hamilton has trouble keeping up to the leaders not because he car sucks but because of the tires.
Ferrari must not let up for a single moment for this entire season. Every race they have to be better than the last race. They must never give another team any chance to catch up. Ferrari ca do this. And I hope they will. I would love to see them take both championships this year, and do it commandingly.
I think after not finishing the race he's entitled to a new gearbox penalty free anyways..unless that rule changed now
The article stated it was more than 1 driver. Even Max was using up his tires. This year the tires appear to potentially be a complaint issue. No shock with HEAVIER cars and new AERO. Tests were using last years cars. Oh and add HEAVIER cars needing to be STOPPED. Brakes as well add issues to the tires. FLAT SPOT???? We saw plenty in pre season testing. There is no Mercedes conspiracy here. Normal F1 = fast car good on tires, better than faster car worse on tires.
