Anyone else prefer a good coat of wax over ceramic coating? If so, what brand are you using?

Hard to beat a cold beer and some elbow grease. Maybe I am old school…. Plus, it gets me out of the house for a few hours.

I'm not a fan of ceramic coating unless it's a daily driver. It makes no sense for a car like mine that gets driven 2k miles/yr.

I do my own paint correction and use Pinnacle Souveran, which is among the best carnauba waxes you can buy.

    Here is the result

In spirit yes, but I have exceeded the ratio of number of cars to free time (work + little kids) to be able to it myself. That said, I plan to wash one of my cars myself today because of some unique circumstances - will probably take me twice as long just to figure out where I put all the supplies and remember all the steps.

Beautiful. Deep and shiny but not a colorless mirror like ceramics. A good wax has depth and character that the semi-permanent techno-coatings can't match. The best detail work to admire is always one done on your car by someone else that does it better than you can. ;)

It’s funny my 488 just got dropped back off from service yesterday. The dealer did a tiny amount of paint work and gave the whole car a polishing and new ceramic application. I’m pretty dang good with a polisher, but they did a very nice job!

My detailer says he recommends ceramic for new cars which are DDs, and wax for older cars, which makes them look more authentic. I think I agree.

Because the gloss is too much for older cars?
