People will see what they want. Hamilton outqualifies and finishes ahead of Russell in Bahrain and there’s no comments. He cocks up qualifying in race 2 and now he’s ‘exposed’?

Meanwhile, the defending WDC is outqualified in what was considered the top car on the grid (after testing) in both races, including by ‘Tortuga Perez’ (Twitter credit), and I hear nothing about “he’s only able to win in the fastest car”

I don’t think there is anything to prove to those who will find fault in everything. Unless it’s all viewed objectively (we are talking fan sentiment, right?) it is a worthless endeavor to attempt to convert critics. Critics have an agenda…can’t always win that game.

 

IMO we need to see quite a few more races this season where Hamilton is behind his teammate before we can hang the ''exposed'' banned on him, so to say.

Max has been outqualified once this season by Perez, not twice.

 

I meant outqualified on pole. Less concerned about Max being outqualified, more referring to how Hamilton is so quickly invalidated without Max being cast under the same harsh light.

Hamilton is supposed to outqualify and finish ahead of Russell. It's obviously not noteworthy when that happens.

Nico beat Hamilton straight up when Hamilton had the fastest car and Button outperformed him over their 3 years together. Hamilton had the fastest car again last year and lost to Max, so unlike Lewis you won't hear much about Max being only able to win in the fastest car. Max has already put that to bed, and Lewis' track record has already proved the opposite.

The Ferrari is the top car on the grid this year, and it's about damned time!

Would you rather win the World Cup, nba titles,twice 1-0 or in game 7 and lose one time 4-0 ? Or just win once? Because essentially that’s how you are seeing it. Button had more points overall but only won one season head to head , factually.

And my favorite. Max won not in the best car? Absolutely true! But last I check didn’t Lewis win NOT in the best car in 2008?

So what max did last year was achieved by Hamilton in 08 and Schumacher in 94…

Nico and Rosberg tied over their careers.

Manipulated? Button scored more points over their 3 years together. That is a fact.

Lewis had the best car in 2007 and threw that one away, too, with his unforced error in China. Imagine how many WDC he'd have if he were actually as good as some people believe...

 

It’s the issue with flexible yardstick again.

(In actuality, Max had the best car last year until the last 4 races (according to Newey) and it took a botched Director’s call to determine the championship)

Critics have an agenda, they will adjust/create facts to support their position, not examine things objectively. The crux of my post is that I would waste neither time nor energy trying to prove something to a fan sector who will only seek ways to support their stance/opinions.

If Hamilton were to finish ahead of Russel today, I’m certain the critics will cite cheating/favoritism. No way can it be a change of the set-up that landed LH in P16.

 

BTW, I see all of the social media stuff going at Max. He’s not getting the Hamilton treatment here, but he is elsewhere. It’s stupid stuff…just watch and enjoy a good battle this season.

Seems like u factually don’t have much facts except your hunch that Hamilton is not as good as his stats show. I can respect that since I believ senna is the best and aside pole position not many of his stats show that…but at least I don’t manipulate them

Some "switched teams'' here but it's understandable now that Ferrari has a good car again...I'm not fussed really.. Enjoying the battle so far and I can't lose either way...a Ferrari title (I like both drivers) or Max (I don't see checo capable of matching Max all season unless Max has some serious bad luck).

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton had the same car. the year Nico won his championship.

Button finished ahead of Hamilton in the championship only ONE YEAR, and still won less GPs that year.

During their 3 years as partners, Hamilton won 3 GPs more than Button. (10 GPs & 20 podiums for Lewis against 7 & 15 for Button)

True or false: Rosberg was the #2 driver to Lewis when Rosberg beat Lewis for WDC.

 

I don't think I'm confusing him at all. Villeneuve was killed at Zolder, airborne and likely dead by the time he was thrown from the car. Depailler went off in the Ostkurve at Hockenheim where they still had the catch fences from the bike race.

 

Great race! Congrats to Max as well as to Chuck who both drove brilliantly.

This bodes well for the season.

Was also glad to see Lewis way off from any podium and clearly beaten by his team mate.

Rosberg never said so, nor Toto Wolff. In fact, Nico Rosberg bnever complained from a different treatment.
If there was a designated Number One, why did Toto Wolff allowed them to fight for 3 years?
