Trust me…that is far from uncivil in my book. An interesting summary and not remotely my point. . Ferrari isn’t just mid engine v8’s and 2 seat front engined v12’s. Been much more than that for a long time.,,including one of Enzos favorites which was a four seater to cart the kids around and room for luggage. There are plenty of modern F cara that do the same 400, 612, FF, lusso. Sounds like you think those were all bad ideas since they are not true sports car. My point simply being, Ferrari has made GT and sports cars for years; so before we put a doa sticker on this and say it has deviated horribly from the brand, maybe we should see the full package and drive it.

The Purosangue is going to be a spectacular package and driving experience, that is not even a question. All the vehicles you mentioned … they were cars. The PS is a truck. Debate that point all you want. Call it what you want. But deep down we all know it is something other than a car. And Ferrari has never made such a thing before. Something that wasn’t a car. ( Don’t @ me with pictures of Ferrari speedboats! Lol )

Fair but there are many of us in the US that would say it’s far from a truck…but I get it. Honestly, you for or against this? Most of your post I read say, paraphrasing, it’s insane. Yet, I thought I read a post that said you weren’t against it.

Technically speaking it's a slightly taller car; same chassis as the Roma.

These folks calling it a truck! Come in, get yourself a man truck and see if you can tell the difference! :)

Until Ferrari makes a vehicle that can tow a gooseneck full of cattle…. Which is a great idea…. What about a V12 turbo diesel?? ;)

Yep, 100% serious. Sketch Monkey, um, I was unfamiliar but I took the time to watch it, and I do not agree with his analysis of the F8, or his redesign. Is he a designer, he only says he teaches sketching. A 3D automobile designer, who can sculpt a car out of clay, is a far more advance designer than one who sketches. Most of his comments were evaluating the design from a 2D standpoint and not a 3D standpoint, that is why all car designers sculpt, they don't just draw.

If it helps, I have a degree in Automobile Design, I graduated top of my class with an unsurpassed amount of job offers, I use to teach design, sculpting and sketching at the school I graduated from, I am a working designer for over 35 years, and I can sketch also, did this while I was watching his video. :)

The Euro figure thrown out previously is 450,000. This equates to roughly $500k. Whilst I initially share your skepticism of the total 1,000 units, it does not make a lot of sense for Ferrari to have invited to TOP/VIP clients to order the car for it then to be released for general consumers in a similar form. Ferrari are not in the position where they need customer deposits in their account to improve their book keeping.

If we can draw a somewhat parallel comparison to Ferrari's hybridization. First production car = LaFerrari -> SF90 -> 296. This is a trickle down strategy of a new concept, with the initial implementation being at the top end of the product line. This makes the technology more attractive when it arrives on the layman editions, because of the perceived trickle down exclusivity of technology. Apply this in a somewhat similar form to the concept of an SUV, and we have; launch it as a V12 as an exclusive high end product - then trickle down the concept (not powertrain) to the general consumers with it having a perceived aura of trickle down exclusivity. Although it can be questioned how much the new management of Ferrari really values the brand's pedigree nowadays, this is the most "Ferrari-esque" way of implementing a new product concept.

Please also keep in mind if this car is to be produced for 3-4 years, it's not given that a V12 version will be emissions legal nearing the end of that cycle. Therefore a relatively quick run of a limited non-hybrid V12 batch makes more sense. Depending on the new product plan to be presented at the Capital Market Days, it can also be assumed any non-hybrid V12 production will be planned with priority in the possibility of an interim period between 812 production (as commonly known no longer available to order) and its successor which surely will have hybridization - so as to get ahead of any potential political block.

In summary, I think the truth lies somewhere between 1,000 units total and 1,000 per year. I do however not believe in a long period of V12 PS production. I reiterate my request for more info on the topic.

Ever since the Purosangue was announced my conviction has always been that Ferrari had entered the super SUV market segment with the aim of generating unprecedented sales volume and, subsequently, greater profits for its shareholders. However, after reading Marcel Massini's post #2739 I realized that Ferrari has now signed firm orders for a total of 27,000 cars of all different models (excluding the Purosangue) but its maximum production capacity remains approximately 10,000 cars per annum. Since at this rate of production Ferrari will need almost three years just to execute the firm orders it already has, it seems that the capacity left to produce the Purosangue will be very limited unless it is somehow increased.

@day355 has reiterated several times that the planned production number for the PS is 5,000 units in total which squares pretty well with the total number of FFs and Lussos produced.

With this in mind, perhaps we can get away from the notion that the PS is somehow going to massively drive profit as the numbers are simply too low and the development cost too high for that to be a factor.

I believe the new product plan due for release June 16th will shed more light on the future of Ferrari's production cycle. Perhaps we'll get some updated metrics which put in to context how they're going to execute the planned sales volume vs. us considering the current capacity. IIRC the annual report for 2021 said customer deliveries for PS would commence Q1 2023, although that sounds bravely optimistic.

Is that 5,000 V12 or 5,000 V12 + V6PHEV? I have not been able to find a post that separates these specifics outside of a 1,000 unit speculation.

With genuine respect to all, especially day355, I predict sales volume of all combined power plants of the Purosangue to average 3,000 to 4,000 units PER YEAR over the next 3 to 4 years.

Wrong. When combining all engine options, it is going to become their sales volume leader and biggest absolute profit generator by a wide margin.

Last year Porsche sold 300,000 vehicles and 170,000 of them were SUVS. Let’s stop saying that Ferrari isn’t doing this for revenue and profit generation, it would be incredibly naive of us to believe this.

Yes but until Ferrari increases other areas of manufacturing there will remain caps on production of any Ferrari built in Maranello.

With all due respect to your contribution to this thread, the frequency of your posts and their nature are on the verge of appearing as rambling. I kindly suggest you take a small breath and summarize your opinions in a collected manner. What is the basis of your prediction? What information are you basing this on - except comparison to other manufacturers (which to be honest, is not entirely relevant as for instance Porsche's scale of manufacturing is on a different planet).

I hope this thread can continue to remain a source of information from solid sources or speculation based on accepted premises, and not a wildcard prediction lobby.

I agree that his redesign of the F8 falls short of the mark, but his comments and assessment of the F8 design is spot on.

If someone has design credentials it does not necessarily give them them a gifted eye for design. For example, Frank Stephenson also does these design commentary and redesign videos and he often is not able to improve factory designs. And if we are being honest, Frank Stephenson’s catalog of designs that were actually produced are absolute trash compared to the Manzoni and Centro Stile body of work.

The SP3 Daytona is a transcendent work of brilliance by Manzoni and several of his top designers. That shows you what they are truly capable of when given the proper mandate and freedom.

When it was originally floated many years ago I was agains it, for the philosophical reasons I have articulated. I used to be in the “If Ferrari does this, I’m out!” camp. So I can empathize with those people who are still adamantly against it. That is no longer the case for me.

For a few years now I have become it favor of it and by the time it got the actual green light internally at Ferrari I was even more in favor of it. I actually think it’s going to surprise both supporters and detractors alike with how great it’s going to be in every respect.

Have you seen a F8 in real life? Its so taught and proportionate, makes all other V8s from the 2000s look a bit bland and bloated. Pictures do not do the car any justice. Your comments regarding F8 read to me as if you have never seen the car in person especially vs other V8s Ferraris in the same setting. But then again different strokes for different folks and all that. Not all have to like a design.

Bruh, seen many F8s and in multiple colors. I reiterate that the only soundly designed 458 derivatives are: the 458 Italia and 458 Spider, the 458 Speciale and Speciale A ( The greatest Ferrari 8 cylinder there ever was or ever will be ) and the Pista and Pista Spider. All other 458 derived road cars are awkward and messy from a design perspective, in my humble opinion, and that includes the 488 GTB, 488 Spider, F8 Tributo and F8 Spider.
