David— in my view and as I posted on BaT— well bought!!! I bought my Dino in February and am a newbie to this as well. I would recommend buying the Compendium— lots of great information. You just bought the most beautiful car ever designed and if someone says they hate the lines of a Dino, they are either lying or can’t afford it. And, you have a Euro spec car— even cleaner lines and more HP than US spec car! The car was not well presented but you bought a great car!! Welcome to the proverbial madness!!

I think the Dino currently on BaT— Euro spec and currently registered in CA, will push well past $550K and would not be surprised if it goes beyond $600K.

here in Europe fair value would be US$ 350k to 400k for this kind of car....

I don’t understand the gushing and positive comments about 06100 on BaT. The. At appears to have had its entire nose fitted incorrectly. For sure the bumpers have not been mounted in the factory locations…

No gushing here but stating what a BaT buyer would pay.

Totally, a couple of high sales on Bat does not mean the market for Dinos are on a upswing and soon will hit the one million mark. Please read the comments by OMGJON and GermanDino elsewhere on this tread, they are experts in their field and know their stuff.

Maybe so but at some point you have to put your money on the come line. Was just texting Jon tonight— he is a magnet for Dinos and he finds cars that the average bear would not see.

Also, prices are on the upswing— not a million to be sure but there has definitely been a sea level change; I don’t think that can be denied. How far? Who knows.

Funny you mention this. I keep looking at the front and can’t figure out if there is a front suspension quirk, a droopy nose or a weird camera angle.

I posted about this Dino about 10+ years ago and clearly remember going by Ray Joseph’s here in Houston to dig around on it. It was a nice car. I don't know if these issues existed then or not, but I definitely don’t remember those. I also don’t know how this Dino looks in person today, which would be Interesting to know.

With all due respects, I respect their opinions.

I know Jon is accurate in his comments.

I believe Matthias is as well.

However, there is lots of additional information that has not been posted about separate transactions. LOTS of data points. The market IS on a substantial upswing. It is not a debate. It is fact.

    Hmmmmm…..

Just saying that these trends are not that crazy. The market has been stable but stagnant for some time. Now it has moved.

An old post by me which includes 06100:

I saw this and I agree. I was going to post about it earlier today but decided to refrain but since it’s been mentioned, I think the front clip is incorrectly installed. When comparing to other Dinos, you can see the side feature line doesn’t line up and the nose is definitively drooping and the bumpers aren’t installed correctly. With the right talent and $$$ it can be corrected.

Thanks for all the reply’s everyone. This is going to be fun. I’m going out to LA in about 10 days to get the car and I’ll let you know what I see. My most prevalent initial thought is to redo the interior on this car. The red piping on the seats, door panels, carpets, all have to go. I’m sure there are mechanical things I will need to do as well. What opinions does this group have on MSD ignition swap outs, like this car has.

Interior changes are pretty straightforward and easy. If you watch the video that was posted, this Dino is far better than what the pictures show. You should be pleasantly surprised.

I have an MSD ignition on one of my Dino’s, it works perfectly fine and is good. However, in today’s world, you can also do a DinoPlex “rebuild”, which was original, and have all the innards replaced with more modern stuff. That is also super desirable and easy to do

The more expensive the less important the condition of the car is. A bad nose job and sagging bumpers are easily fixed and will not affect the sales price much in a professional market. As Long as the car is reasonable complete, original and not completely rusted away it might sell strong. It’s time to think differently about the Dino market. Also note that some of the more professional Ferrari experts on this site has showed increasingly more interest for the Dino model the last year or two. This is not a coincidence. Best Peter

I’m not surprised over the value increase we have witnessed lately. I have said it before but will say it again; the Dino is a little jewel - small, extremely good looking, not in any direction vulgar, loved by all including or female partners that often feels intimidated by more muscular fuel consuming cars. What’s not to like. Lean back and enjoy the market behaviour, it might chance before we know it as it usually does. Slightly biased though, Best Peter

If the Euro market is lagging from the US with Dino 246s it begs the question of how much this RM Sotheby's offering May 14, 2022 in Monaco will fetch. Seemingly hungry buyers driving up BaT sales should be just as interested in this example. It's a US Market (May) 1973 246 GTS Chairs & Flares (Chassis 05530), last offered/sold in March 2020. The original color is Rosso Cordoba of which only 50 Dino 246 ever were shipped in that color. Plus you get the provenance of it having been owned by (but never driven by, as she lacks a driver's license) French model Laetitia Casta from 2006 - 2017. Photo - RM Sotheby's.

With the pushed up value of Dino 246s I have to assume there are now fewer owners interested in converting their cars to Moto Technique's Dino Evo 3.9 restomod conversion.
