Auto Italia was great this year. Enjoyed catching up with people from far and wide. Mostly boring modern Ferraris but great selection of other Italian marques. PSW's Sebring won Best of Show. Highlights included an Alfa GTA Junior and this well known Periscopo. Unfortunately the judges were kept busy so no time for other photos. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow!, what a car, I stood next to a Maserati Bora this morning for the first time ever, as a kid it was my favourite matchbox car and the real thing didn’t disappoint. I wouldn’t care if it sat in the living room for the rest of my life, I’d never watch tv again, pure art[emoji4]
Big thank you to all the local guys for a warm welcome on saturday and sunday as usual. Even though the weather looked a bit grim on the Saturday, it held off long enough on Sunday to make it very enjoyable. Only a couple of pics, a beautiful Alfa twin spark- original car, F/club members P3 rep which was just superb. Met up Ian B and Spencer Martin, Pete received the Best of the Best prize and well deserved on his Sebring- just beautiful. Which very nearly didn't happen , but he can tell you all about that. Spencer just loved the P3 and how the carbed V12 ran and sounded with the very nearly open flared exhausts, so much so he signed the door! He is such a gentleman, sharp as a tack, and a delight to talk to. His book is out and is well worth a read. Cheers MG
The 206 is a replica with dino engine and drives very nicely I can tell you. The P3 has a carbed four cam Ferrari V12 in it, templates made from the piper car i believe. I would have either in a New York minute. Out of all the cars there, these two were never not being looked over and admired. When the P3 was started up, the crowd were 5-6 deep. And the great thing was all ages not just old farts like me.
I concur with Ian & Murray's sentiments, it was a great event & to catch up with some old friends for a chat, my first time attending, it seems I've always had something on those past weekends. It was super satisfying to get the Sebring recognition from the judges & win "Best of Show', however as Murray eluded to, I nearly didn't get there. 15 mins out from Canberra on Saturday, I pulled up in the rain which had been coming down since Goulburn - my perfect detail by Jason at 'Detail Autohaus' being shot to pieces - to punch into my phone sat nav the directions to my hotel, I turned the car off & it wouldn't restart, just dead . Checked battery OK, checked the kill switch OK, rang Ian to ask if he knew any Canberra mechanics, he suggested ringing Sean & sent me his number, Sean said he could arrange storage of the car & then we could get it looked at Monday or trucked back to Sydney. Through elimination I looked harder then at the ignition switch barrel under the dash & could see wiring that had overheated, melted & degraded the connections...oh ****, no such spares with me & in all honesty I'm not terrific with mechanicals...so book the tow truck. As it happened another friend was about 20 mins behind us, he stopped to give a hand & referred me to a local Alfa mechanic he knew named Luke Clayton who went beyond being a help, he came out late on Saturday afternoon, he did a temporary fix & made a new bridge wire that got us started up & we drove to Luke's workshop to leave it for him to have a proper look at early Sunday morning & try an old Alfa ignition or something similar to gerry it up... I'm still thinking there is a small chance I might reach the event late or perhaps still be able to enter for the judging. Saturday night at the official dinner I meet a really nice Maserati owner named Andrew who owns an old Quattroporte & I tell him the story of the afternoon, he says he thinks he has a spare replacement ignition switch sitting in the boot with his car spares, as he's had a similar issue in the past, he checks his car that night & texts me a photo confirming he's got it with him. I head in an Uber to collect it early Sunday morning, then onto Luke's workshop, bingo, its exactly the same as mine. Luke pulls the old one out & instals the one from the Quattroporte & she fires up. Things are looking up... I head straight for Queanbeyan, arrive at the event & I start madly trying to clean the Sebring before judging, obviously never going to be as good as it was when I left Sydney, however the gods, Khama or whatever else had decided to help me all along the way & the Sebring won. A huge thank you to all the people in the chain of events that resulted in me getting to the show & picking up the Silver ware Sorry for the long post, Jon will be saying TLDR

Well for starters Pete it isn't a long post, for one of those all you need to do is go to the Tesla thread and read anything PP either says or post's!. Secondly....GREAT EFFORT once again. I'm guessing you're measuring up for a new shelf to fit all the gongs on!.
Well that's the young me or are you thinking about the old bloke with his hand up in the other picture
No Pete, I read it all!! Congrats on the Win. Looking forward to seeing you and the Sebring on the GAD.[emoji3][emoji3] Silly signature here to annoy KIAI

I thought about going but frankly I suspect it is just the same as the Sydney Harbour Concours, too political, prizes for mates, sponsors, sponsors mates & very high net worth individuals, not true concours judging.
