    I doubt they have the B - for Billion$ he and his consortium would demand. Not that he would sell anyway. New F1 factory and no seat for Lance. This is a family dream adventure and most likely the value plus inflation per month is going to drive Andretti out of the business before they can enter it. Not so sure why his activities in other series are not keeping him busy.

    The real question is what platform can US based drivers use to gain entry. Herta seems quick etc. Just having an F1 team like Haas has not done it yet. Zack is going to let Herta drive the car but there is no solid 'gateway'.

    Why doesnt F1 sponsor or have a proper F1 test for US only drivers as part of Austin or Miami. Put the focus on complete the F1 atmosphere for US drivers. I sense a lack of creative thinking on the entire "US F1 Driver" issue. Just my observations on this issue.

    Hmmm....don't know, but maybe Liberty makes more money with another North American race than with 1 American driver.....?

    Oh yes. From a strict fiscal perspective. Yes.

    From their own consistent propaganda they do mention a US driver being good for the series potentially. It certainly is noted on this forum as well.

    I think any new team with racing credentials and a serious effort in terms of car and staff, should be allowed to come to the track on Friday and try to make the grid on Saturday's qualifying. Make the maximum grid 22 cars...and if you are bumped from the grid in qualifying, you don't race on Sunday, no matter who you are. That means be on top of your game and don't crash out in Q1. And if Andretti can pick up where Dan Gurney left off, I'd love to see it.

    I can't say I understand the mechanics, but F1 is a 'franchise' business now; a team can't just show up at a track and get on track. Same way the 'Redondo Beach Rednecks' can't play in the NFL, I suppose. The NFL is a successful socialist society, F1 is, too.

    Yes, people think you can promote or demote teams in F1, but it doesn't work that way.
    Those 10 teams have bought or inherited their rights to be in F1.
    As long as they fullfil their contractual obligations, they are entitled to race.
    Suspending a team for 2 or 3 races as I have seen proposed, would completely ruin it.
    By the same token, who would start a team just for a few hypothetical races?

    In all the history of F1 there have been a small number of US drivers, so I think it's pretty safe to say that F1 is doing fine without one. Did Phil Hill and Mario Andretti's F1 titles generate a lot of interest in the USA? I'd have to put "USA driver" in the "Nice to have" category, certainly not a requirement.

    Mario and Michael Andretti want to bring 'Andretti Global' team to grid in 2024; The plan is for the team to have American drivers and an American-built car, although other teams say there has to be a change to the prize fund structure to agree to an 11th team

    IIRC Toto is the ONLY one stopping Andretti from entering.

    Toto has an interest in 3 F1 teams. Mercedes, Aston and Williams.

    Horner also stated it’s a money issue as well. FIA has not really pushed an expansion or Liberty overtly. This is value dilution issue. Zack at McLaren is most openly supportive of new team.
    I can’t see Stroll supporting it from a value perspective. He has not been in press at all.

    Somewhat off topic, but indulge me for a minute, please…..

    Can somebody explain this: Porsche and Audi (both!) are acting like, “Hey, we’re in for the 2026 season.” At least that’s the impression I get from a recent Autosport.com article. How can this be? If the teams are opposed to one new team, how are P+A so confident that they’ll be accepted? Particularly since I’d think the independents would be especially opposed to two more factory teams.

    I must be missing something, but what?

    Will partner with a current team and supply motors. Possibly buy the partner team etc. Seems to be the concept overall

    More than likely they will be engine suppliers first, and partners in a couple of teams to begin with.

    Williams, Sauber (Alfa), McLaren, or Haas come to mind.

    Formula 1 CEO and president Stefano Domenicali has cast doubt on Andretti’s push to join the grid as an 11th team, saying any new entry needs to be “really significant”.

    I think F-1 Liberty are missing the boat on the teams thing. Since its now a Franchise deal - F-1 needs to buy up the rights to various Historical F-1 names:

    Cooper,
    BRM,
    Matra
    Arrows
    Shadow
    Lotus
    March
    Tyrrell
    etc... and make it so that there are no more than 14 possible teams in any given year. if you want to participate you have to buy one of those brand franchises. The sliding scale of payouts is limited to the current 10 teams, with the bottom 4 given only appearance money per race until they can show a net ROI to F-1. they can get paid per point, funding of which will come from title sponsor and Host fees. Make it so that there are 10 races with 14 team slots, the remaining races only with 12.

    the cost of the teams that do the first 10 races will be lower - therefore they don't have to earn as much money. that way there is real competition for all the teams. It also preserves the History of the sport.... all current team names would be licensed by F-1. if you leave for example if Ferrari leaves they could still own the dormant name but have to pay a license fee.
