I’ve been really torn on this vehicle. I have no problem with Ferrari doing an ‘FUV’, they have done all sorts of vehicles completely unrelated to the track - there was a four seat 250 GT/E the Queen Mary, the 400 to name just a few. They were luxury cars and were part of what Ferrari has been for a long time (Enzo even used the 250 GT/E regularly). An FUV is just a luxury sports car that reflects the style and trend of the times as all the others did.

My problem has been totally different. I get bored of SUVs very quickly and this will be a very expensive thing to get bored of. I’ve had an FF and Lusso and liked them but ended up feeling that they were still too much Ferrari for everyday use plus when the 812 arrived, the Lusso didn’t compare as a driving experience. My wife has used Merc, BMW, Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs, all expensive cars to own and depreciate and whenever we needed to carry passengers I quickly found myself arguing to take something else, anything else.

I persuaded her to buy a Panamera Hybrid ST thinking that would be better. No, terrible car and should not be called a Porsche - far too relaxed, always encouraging you to drive in an unsporting way. I have finally found a car that she loves using and I love driving - a Taycan Turbo S. What a shock! (‘scuse pun) It’s a great sporting luxury vehicle. I don’t for a moment believe this car does anything to save the planet, nor other EVs (not going to go into the very complex reasons for that here) but as a luxury car it’s quiet, rides well and the instant you want to go quickly it’s right there with you and is more than happy to encourage spirited driving. It looks great, has beautiful curves and a very nice interior, perfectly blending luxury, sportiness and modernity. It’s an excellent product and the first car she has owned in two decades that I haven’t got bored of.

So why order a Ferrari SUV? Our DP texted about PuroSangue and I was unsure. Texted again last week and after lengthy deliberation I decided to order one. Not sure how VVIP we are but we were allocated an 812 Comp. We were told the dealership was only getting a small supply of PS and they were instructed to offer the cars to high up clients only. The factory wanted names of those who qualify and also wanted a car. Very compelling words, however accurate. My decision to order came down to a few things; I think demand will be high and supply fairly limited in the beginning so if I don’t like it we should be ok, if anyone can do this and make the car desirable and worth picking up the keys when you have other nice things in the garage then Ferrari can and lastly, our standing with the dealer/factory is important. I love Ferrari and being a repeated owner has been a great experience. Both our dealer and the factory have been really good to us and it has always been a pleasure to be a customer but being able to get most of the cars I want is now an important part of that journey. There has been no pressure at all regarding PS but I guess if I didn’t bother with it and it turned out to be brilliant, I would feel a bit stupid, especially when if things were the other way around it would be a problem easily solved. I wouldn’t feel the same about taking a car that someone else spec’d either. So I’m betting on Ferrari doing a great job and I don’t think they will disappoint. The question I cannot answer is will I really find a use for a Ferrari SUV? If it is in a quieter colour and blends in more than the Lusso then maybe it will work for me, I think either way it will work for my wife. But my-oh-my is it expensive. It has to be brilliant for that price, though a V12 engine in the front is a great start. I wouldn’t want to see any ‘de-tuned F12/812’ nonsense either, this has to be full-fat mental and brilliant to boot for that kind of money.

Isn’t it a bit difficult to use the term ‘absolutely’ on such a subjective point? I love the way the Taycan looks. Nicer than the Panamera or the FF/Lusso in my view. When you are close to it it has some really interesting surfacing and shaping.

It is probably the nicest (and interesting at the same time) looking four seater sedan in the market imho. Could not agree with your POV more.

I remain amazed by certain beliefs, but it works.
They offered one to me too, and you can imagine that their VIP bank status, I don't even have the letter V!!!

I know of two people who were "offered one" and neither party are anyone near VIP. One has one new car in total over 10 years with the brand. I've signed a PO but I'm not naive enough to think that these are being offered to only VIP clients.

The Camo rear looks pretty much the same as the leaked spy shot from weeks back. Can't see much more changing in that area now.
That's Good or bad I guess depending on your view on the leaked image. I like it, however the lower area looks very plasticity not a fan of that.

I saw one for the first time in a parking lot and thought it was a very nice looking car!

Spoke to my dealer and he confirmed pre-orders will outweigh units available.
He also mentioned that it could very well be this car will be available, at some stage, as a V12 and another engine option.
With the V12 only available for VIP clients.
I have ordered the V12 as of yesterday.
My dealer doesn't play games with me and simply said, I am on the list for a V12 both from dealer and Ferrari; but I should not feel pressured to get one.
He said pre-orders outweigh deliovereis nearly 3 to 1.
More details to come shortly...... we'll see

At your dealership or at Ferrari? This is not a limited edition car so it seems that Ferrari will try to make all that they can sell.

Maranello's plans can and do change but, for now, we have a Ferrari insider confirming that the PS is V12 only - hence the name.
I suspect that the way round this (when the V12 is killed by legislation) is to face-lift the platform with a different drivetrain and a different name - just as the FF and Lusso are sisters with different surnames.

My dealer told me. Told me to order if I would be interested. He said no pressure as we've already outsold all units allocated for our dealership.
You're a VIP customer that has first pick, but no sweat if you won't order it. plenty of fish in the sea...!

But he also confirmed that he has very limited info on another engine options and so forth.

If you mean Purosangue this is not the final name, just one used for pre-production.

Based on the Chairman's shareholders letter - I expect there will be no other ICE option in the PS. His focus is increasing market cap so the faster Ferrari gets to 25% EV sales the better:

Chairman Exor letter: "In 2021 alone, there were 11 sizable public listings of pure EV (electric vehicle) players. The top 10 most valuable pure EV companies, which together sold close to 1% of total vehicle units and a third of the electrified units, were worth over $1.5 trillion at year end, while the most valuable 10 traditional car companies, which sold most of the remaining 99% of units, were worth $1 trillion. Markets are clearly telling us where the future is going"

Ferrari said its first EV will arrive in 2025 and day355 confirmed its the PS. Given that EV percentage penetration is more important (to the stock) than growing ICEV sales - it doesn't make financial sense to even introduced a PHEV Hybrid PS.

Just to add to this, my dealer doesn’t play games either and said basically the same. They have never had more pre-orders for a car that hasn’t launched yet and they also said there was no pressure for me to order one. I interpreted that to mean they will get limited allocations and I would be bumping someone off the list who already has a deposit in house. Many of the deposits are from those new to the Ferrari brand.

Since the invitation came from Ferrari and not from the dealer, everyone will need to decide individually whether there is actually any “pressure” to order. V12 confirmed. Name likely to change from PS.

Just curious, are these dealers taking a deposit from you too or just putting your name on a list?

For a comparison experience, I live in the midwest of the US, and in 2008 bought a '09 Maserati Gran Toursimo Sport that I ordered from dealer. Maserati was owned by Ferrari then. In 2014 I took delivery of '14 F12 from this dealer which I previously ordered . In 2020, I took delivery of '21 F8 spider from this dealer. Maybe a few months later I put down a deposit on Ferrari PS. Last spring I put down deposit and ordered SF90 spider AF. This past winter my salesman thought I would get delivery late summer of this year. I have not been contacted by my dealer concerning Ferrari PS. Also I still own the previous stated cars and have them serviced by this dealer.

Did you get the email from Ferrari? My understanding is that is the list, at least initially …dealer contacting you is great but doesn’t necessarily help with the factory.
