One comment nailed it. These cars were designed a half a century ago. The power difference between the 2V and the Carb/QV is insignificant now. No one is buying these cars for their power. Period. Like they say, when the tide rises, all boats rise.
Holy Smoke, look at the prices in Germany. https://www.theparking-cars.com/used-cars/ferrari-308-germany.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
Having seen this car in real life, I think it was a huge deal by the buyer. It's nicer than a 56K car. It's not like the one that sold for 117K a few months ago, but this number is well below market. At the same time, the owner runs a business full time, and may not have had the time and energy to participate on the BAT chat all day long, which also leads to less interest on BAT. I'm surprised there was no reserve.
Yes, I think that bump is across the 308 lineup. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There’s a new offer at bat https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-ferrari-328-gts-29/ interesting this car was sold for $110k on 2016. https://www.classic.com/veh/1988-ferrari-328-gts-zffxa20a1j0074921-nOXExAW/
I see a couple minor nitpicks but that is a real nice looking 328. Between the condition and low miles it will probably do well on BaT. Saw no mention of recent service or maintenance records, so that is somewhat conspicuous. Normally that would be mentioned in the description and/or photos if there was favorable information to share.
The sales topics are fun, but GT4s and 328s have their own market threads...just to keep the data segregated a bit.
@Hannibal308 is correct. Those threads exist right here in this section. 328 market thread is here. 308 GT4 market thread is here.
it would be nice to have a sticky for all three models, since the interest and desirability has piqued
Well, for a long time no one cared about values. They cared about the cars. Threads were more technical in nature and there was collective community based around the passion and enjoyment of the cars. It’s only been in the last 8 years ago that people started getting this weird obsession about prices and values, which I admittedly don’t understand. These aren’t stocks or financial instruments where one unit is the same as every other and so prices are interchangeable. I don’t know how the price that someone else sold their car for enhances another person’s ownership of their own car. Also, I don’t understand this frenzy and excitement to rush and report every price achieved in BaT or wherever seconds after a sale. If someone is interested in price research, it’s all right there on BaT and that’s way easier to find than in these threads. Anyways, as I said, I admittedly don’t understand this ongoing obsession with prices so entirely possible that I’m just a troglodyte.
There is something about feeling like some sort of investment genius having bought when they were relatively cheap. It kinda feels good but the reality is I’m not selling so any value increase is theoretical.
I enjoy hearing about the cars for sale and some of the associated stories. The pricing/value info is more about curiosity to me. Always interesting to see some of the crazy prices people are paying these days.
Hey Sherpa23, please don't rain on our parade. These discussions on 3x8 prices are a refreshing change from the somewhat mundane and repetitive threads that often appear here. It doesn't mean we are going to sell our beloved cars for a few thousand dollars more than we have invested in the long term. But it's nice to see 3x8's finally receiving their due respect and appreciation endorsed by recent pricing trends. Remember, a lot of this is inflationary. Please feel free to start a cam belt, oil type or tire thread.
it can be interesting or useful information in the future. Maybe somebody’s future car was sold this year …
