I thought I would share my journey and give my reasons behind the title.

I've had the Lusso for only 4 weeks. (Pic attached). It was my first Ferrari and I bought it after doing all the usual research (YouTube videos, forums etc).
It's been an absolute joy. My intentions were to make the most of the practicality as a daily driver whilst at the same time enjoying everything that comes with owning a Ferrari.
I've had positive comments aplenty. Joe Public congratulating me. It turns heads all of the time although that to me is just a given for owning such a thing.
What I didn't really grasp in the early days of ownership was how its actually not as practical as I first imagined. Sure, it was never going to be as practical as the rs6 I had before and of course I had to compromise for all of the other benefits.
I realised very quickly that it's a big car. It's manoeuvrability for everyday use is limited and the power delivery was mostly on par with the rs6. As a divorcee the family aspect of it was not so important anymore. It was great for driving friends around etc but I found it difficult to drive around city centres and down tight country roads. Multistorey car parks were an absolute nightmare.
I also found that I didn't get the sound I wanted at lower revs, more to the fact that it was a v8 I suppose. The V12 was not really an option for me.
I had to take it back to the dealership for some small issues. The bumpy Road button got stuck in the steering wheel for example.
The dealership was kind enough to loan me a Portofino M whilst the work was being done. I had an absolute blast in it. It felt more agile and pointed. Massively different car but I honestly missed the refinement of the Lusso at the time. Maybe it was the top down aspect that pushed me into taking an extensive test drive in a 488 Spider.
When I did, that was it. My word, what a difference in all aspects. I'm sure that you can make your own minds up on what I mean but my mind was made and I asked the dealer to work out some numbers for me. I pick it up this coming weekend and I'll share some pics when I do.
The Lusso for me has been that first time girlfriend type of car. You enjoy the excitement of the early relationship but when that supermodel comes along and winks at you....Well you question your decision right?
So that's my short journey in a nutshell. Maybe I'll get comments for not making a more considered decision around the Lusso, but hey, nothing good lasts forever.

It’s a journey. No wrong answers.

You’ll love the 488 spider. The Lusso8 is quite a vehicle but has its drawbacks. Very different vehicles.

Only shame is your rs6 would have been a good compliment to the 488 spider.
    Pictures please.

Thanks for sharing your story. I just made the opposite switch from 488 GTB to V12 Lusso after two years of ownership.
Each of us has different preference at different times. The most important thing is to know what you truly wants. I am sure You will love the 488! Enjoy in good health.

It sounds like your needs have changed a little bit and the 4 seater aspect isn't a good fit anymore. Great choice in 488 spider and glad you have a dealer that is willing to work things out with you.

    “Work” with you ;).

I used to walk into to my SA and tell him I need to consolidate and have less cars. He would say step over here to my couch and we can talk.

The couch was in front of the configuration and I always wound up with more cars. I’m glad he worked with me.

Here's the replacement for the Lusso. Considering to change the wheel colour to gold. Main dealership has quoted me £600, which I thought was quite reasonable...

It’s interesting. I have a V12 Lusso which I adore. But there’s no doubt that it’s much more refined (and less “explosive”) than other Ferraris. I can’t speak for the V8 but the V12 has a long-legged gearbox which means you have to work the revs to get the performance. (Not that you often want to.)

I find the Lusso is a beautiful complement to my F12. (Which is definitely “explosive”!) But I have often thought that a Lusso might be a disappointing first Ferrari for those who (reasonably) imagined something different. Just a thought.

Have the wheels powder coated vs just painted. Cheap finish will wear and chip easily.

Honestly, this is what is so fantastic about Ferrari right now. The cars share the bloodline but are all so different. Even the Roma to the portofino (with roof up). I love the variation bw each model. Enjoy the 488 in great health!
