This is more properly a Gen 4.5 fighter, not a Gen 5, which have low observable technologies.

Ukraine has cruise missiles? I have not seen them mentioned in any article I’ve read.

Reportedly knocked out early in the conflict. Other reports say the frigate was hit by a Harpoon.

Ukraine has a self developed Neptune anti ship missile that was used earlier in the war, unknown how many they have as they only went into production within the last couple years. Ukraine was also previously responsible for production for the “Satan” ICBM. The city Dnipro in Ukraine is basically Rocket City.

S-300 is not a bad system and is being used against contemporary airframes. SU-27 family a/c have a radar signature the size of a house. Against an F-22/35 or more powerful electronics and avionics it might have a harder time

What impressed me is that it supposedly can shoot down ballistic missiles. Granted, the Russians aren't using very sophisticated missiles, but still...

I don't understand why the US, the UK, and Israel are not helping more by supplying the Patriot and the Iron Dome. :(

They probably don't want to risk having that tech fall into the wrong hands.

Perhaps a better solution would be for Ukraine to build up their air force, and take out the Russian missile launch sites. I'm sure it's known exactly where the missiles have been launched from.

What does the S-500 have to do with the Patriot, or the missiles you refer to?

S-500 and the Patriot are both surface-to-air missile systems.

I don't know about Iron Dome, but the crew training and maintenance requirements of the Patriot would be too much for Ukraine, at least for now.

That's why the S-300 (or even better, the S-400) make more sense for Ukraine. It already fits into their existing infrastructure.

Looks probable now that the Russian cruiser Moskva was hit by a cruise missile. That should make it more difficult for ships to pound coastal cities if they think they are going to be targeted.

That is pretty awesome, actually. I read that they had a Bakrytar UAV in the area as a distraction.

This is interesting... I didn't realize how physically large an S-300 system is...
