Its "Ok' looking but could be better. None at all, just doesn't cut it.

I was wondering about something like the 328 rear under bumper panel, maybe something like that would work?

I suppose something could be fabbed, using simple brake bends, out of perforated metal and Cerakoted satin black.

Anybody got any good pics of an alternative?

    Thanks,
    Doug.

That doesn't look too bad, i like it.

It can be cut with a waterjet for next to nothing, then bent as needed.

    Now that, i really like.

I considered the longitudinal fins, but couldn't come up with a good way to well, make them look good, and not something added on with pop rivets or such..

What is that made of? And how was it made?

    Aluminum!
After building the model in CAD I broke it into sheet metal flats, had it water jetted. Then hand formed and fitted and welded. Then the body guy did the final finish with paint. I don't recall the series though, 2k or 3k.

I should find the pic with the painted logo...

I had an early car that ran the later diaper, so it's not too much difference, but you DO need that Mail Slot panel between the two lower Quarter Panels.

Then from there the stagger slot Early Version mounts to a flat surface, angular like that after market piece is made.

I wish i could weld aluminum like that. i would have warped the crap out it to the point of it being garbage. Never got the hang of welding aluminum in large thin sections.

Oh right there with you, can't weld aluminum at all. Dropped it off with a guy that welds for an oil company up in WA. Faster, cheaper.. Less hassle.

    Understand completely.
This was a client request and to also help with aero given the changes to the engine/drive train etc.

In my book: What Peter @pshoejberb did is the right way to do the de-diaper conversion, beautiful craftsmanship! I recall when Newman did a similar job to his yellow GTB, he went with the full QV Euro rear valence. I'm in the middle-ish of my 1979 GTS diaper removal (amongst other things). The pics are an early cardboard rough-in... the close-up is to show the fiberglass ears which are lower the center section, I'm planning to cut these level to provide a same level line across the rear. I likely won't go as all-out a Peter (primarily Euro), but more of a Euro/USA hybrid if I leave the side openings and lower grates in place. Not sure if I will go with a shorter aluminum filler or fabricate (and fuse in) a fiberglass center section.

Thanks, there's an old thread on it round here somewhere. It was done with an engine belly pan as well, all for the aero.

The front of the 308's are serious need of a splitter though, front lift at speed is a problem.
