If you read Lauda's book "My years with Ferrari" and or "Mein Story" he relates the whole Ferrari episode. In his book the "Art and science of Grand Prix Driving," he talks a lot about car setup and testing. I think this is where the "computer" reputation came from. he goes into gear ratios, vs. straightaway length, corner speeds, vs. spring adjustments... he also talks about BRM and learning set up, with a responsive car. vs. March where changes did not work at all.

Not everyone see LH as a 'great' but well liked in Brazil yes?

    https://www.espn.com/f1/story/_/id/33735970/waiting-my-brazilian-passport-jokes-lewis-hamilton-amid-honorary-citizenship-talk

Formula One's seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton said on Wednesday he wanted to spend more time in Brazil and indicated his approval of a bid to make him an honorary citizen.

The Briton, knighted by his own country, was in Sao Paulo to deliver a keynote speech at an event focused on business and digital transformation.

Previous keynote speakers at the VTEX Day event include former U.S. president Barack Obama, British entrepreneur Richard Branson and former Brazilian president Fernando Henrique Cardoso.

"I want to spend more time here in Brazil...It is such a beautiful culture. I've only been to Rio and Sao Paulo, but I want to come back for Christmas, New Year or something," Hamilton said.

"[Brazilian soccer international] Neymar invites me every year, and [pro surfer] Gabriel [Medina] invites me every year, but I never had the chance...I'm waiting for my Brazilian passport."

A bill to make the 37-year-old an honorary citizen is pending in the lower house of the Brazilian parliament but has yet to be voted on.

The move was proposed by congressman Andre Figueiredo after last year's Brazilian GP, at which Hamilton unfurled the Brazilian flag after winning at Sao Paulo's Interlagos circuit.

The crowd chanted his name along with that of late triple world champion Ayrton Senna, a national hero and Sao Paulo native who died at Imola in 1994.

The Briton, the most successful driver in the history of the sport who has always held up Senna as his boyhood idol, later carried the flag onto the podium to an ovation from the fans.

Presidential hopeful Ciro Gomes, a member of Figueiredo's PDT party, backed the honorary citizenship for the Mercedes driver.

"Hamilton, you already live in our hearts. With the honorary citizenship, you will be even closer to us," he said on Twitter after Hamilton posted a picture of himself with the Brazilian flag above a headline about the initiative.

"I'd be honoured," said the Briton on Twitter.

Seems they appreciate a good F1 driver as well. I also think he shows them respect as fans as well.

After watching Schumacher documentary and even after knowing much of his professional career, it’s embarrassing to even mention Hamilton is ever anywhere near what Schumacher had achieved in F1.

The shear pressure to deliver would’ve been so immense for Schumacher on a second rate car against the almighty maclaren at the time.

Schumacher raced against Williams and McLaren machines that were beasts no other driver at the time could've kept pace with. Insane he took far inferior cars to championship finales in 97 and 98, and beat the faster Williams in 94.

Still, lets not ******** ourselves. With the exception of 03', those Bryne machines were just godly. They are the reason Schumi won, just like Costo's machines are why Hamilton won, even if the latter was more brutal in terms of how long it lasted.

The early FW16 was a POS and was a b-word to setup?

Look, Benneton likely used launch control a few times in 94'. Fairly obvious at France. But many of the teams were subverting the rule and cheating. Ferrari and McLaren were doing it, too. The FIA also never investigated Williams to see if they also had source code for driver aids hidden. Keep in mind, Williams were lucky to have not podiumed in San Marino 94', or else we'd have gotten to see if a similar system was being used by them, and if they were throwing stones from a glass house.

Little did it really matter. In 95' there was no doubt Schumacher was just a lot of faster than the William's drivers, and was overcoming their car advantage. They got 12 out of 17 poles, and they still got spanked by Schumacher. That season really should've put the controversy to bed.

Not forgotten. Not his best moment
And I used to dislike him for that. but he warmed people over with his perseverance in the Ferrari and over 4 years of doubts if he could ever do it when even the great Mansell and Prost had failed.

The F2003-GA was bloody fast in cooler conditions. I'd say Michelin had the upper hand that year, particularly in hotter conditions. Though it's possible the revolutionary sidepods of the GA meant the car had cooling issues in the hot hot summer months too.

The British media rumours are just that, rumours.

FIA investigated McLaren, Benetton and Ferrari for alleged TC usage. All teams were cleared.

Williams won the WCC in '94.
In '95 Hill and Coulthard were making mistakes and there was some poor Williams race strategy.

Many British people don't enjoy the facts :D

Schumi won the 1994 championship with a « weak » Ford V8 against the mighty Renault V10 at time.

It's also convenient to forget the FIA threw Schumacher out of an unheard 4 races over minor infractions, to help Hill and Williams catch up in the first place, otherwise the season would've been over with 2 or 3 races left. I don't like that Schumacher drove dirty that day, but Hill and Williams were only in the title fight to begin with because of rogue officialdom. And Hamilton's supporters think 2021 was manipulated.

Now Jerez 97'? Schumi got what he deserved. Karma on his ass for playing dirty against Villeneuve (who I don't like) who raced him clean the whole season. Truly the most disgraceful day as a Ferrari fan, with Austria 02' right behind it.

And let's not forget it was the alleged angel Senna who started the dirty driving games and set the precedent, when he drove into Prost in Japan 90', and was not thrown out of the championship for it, despite it being far more brazen, and even more unprovoked, but people praises Senna for it.

Especially regarding the last point, it just highlights the hypocrisy of the British press and indeed the FIA.

Had Senna drove into a British driver the mob would've been out in force, just like 2021 (and still today)

This is even worse than that concerning Senna.
In Suzuka 1991 he officially said he hit Prost on purpose the year before..

    Typical double standards.

I always cheer for the driver I believe deserves the title, regardless of how I feel about their personality. In 14', I was rooting for Hamilton to win. That stupid double points crap for the season finale in Abu Dhabi that year was utter WWE madness.

But the situation had been reversed and Hamilton had jumped Rosberg via the double points garbage, you can bet he would've celebrated and slept just fine that night, and the press wouldn't have felt a bit sorry for Rosberg. Ham certainly celebrated in Canada 19' without any reservations. And clearly Hamilton, Mercedes, and their fans were not going to have a problem with the punts by Ham and Bottas into Max in Silverstone and Hungary theoretically (and seemingly) costing him the title. Nope. Not one bit. They would've slept like babies winning the title that way.
