'01 after my last TTas and the only things quicker than me in my class,2-3 litres as the 122 was bored to 2.1 :(,were them and 911's...so I thought I'd upgrade to 6 cyl's.
One of my servo long term customers had an average one as their daily.
Dead straight bit of rust nothing nasty, average interior, good g'box, bit smokey engine.
I asked if they'd sell it as is and if so how much.
They came back to me and said a grand.
I had a roady done and fixed for another grand, including a $300 screen and rego!.
Then for whatever reason and I really cannot remember, I decided I didn't want/need it.
I phoned a mate in Townsville,Warren Skimmings, and offered it to him for what it owed me!!!!!!....he bought it.
One of few whooopsie car moments in my life!

Really? I just don’t think it’s THAT expensive. I paid $55k for my Golf R 10 years ago. This is $65k plus ORC, so seems about right???

Ah!, couldn’t help myself Greg, I imagine they’re good cars, Steve has one it’s quite comfortable and probably quicker than my 360 but I personally couldn’t warrant spending $65k on a run around, perhaps if I had a much better income I might consider it but given our circumstances I’d rather spend that kind of money on the house, there’s always something [emoji849]
Here’s a suggestion for a new /old daily Greg, spend the other $50k on a fur coat [emoji16]

Yeah, I get it. I’d love to buy another one, but unfortunately my daily will need to be the Volvo for a while yet as I need 7 seats and something big enough to carry Dad’s wheelchair etc

Good for you, don’t get me wrong, if Santa dropped one off at Christmas I’d be stoked (with a whiff of guilt)

My BIL had one of those new. Very slow off the mark

And the bills started to pile up once it got to about 10 years old. Forget it as a daily

I know they’re slugs, I had a 300TE station wagon, cracking work and family car, the kids loved the rear facing seats, I could fit so much equipment in the back and the rear was perfect hight for doing small Jobs on the go while the tail door proved perfect cover from the elements.
And the bills did indeed stack up, 2 fuel pumps $1800 [emoji33] and the air shocks packed up so it went [emoji849]

I'd have a Golf R over an A35 , build quality is better.

Like many I've always had a soft spot for a Golf GTi or an R.

Ideal for the city and ideal for rural trips .....I should have bought one

Add an original 911 to the pic and those would look like a pair of giants.

That's amazing. On one of the Targas, 2016, I think, Jim Richards had the then-new Cayman GT4, which looked tiny, and Jason White had a Dodge Viper GTR, which looked enormous, but when they parked side by side, the Cayman was only 5cm shorter. Lots of styling tricks to make them appear smaller, the major one being larger wheels.
