    Hi BB forum members,

I'm new to BB's (familiar with 400's and 308's) and I have been trying to find some information on BB512's and especially the injected version.

    - Wheel spinners, there seems to be part numbers for hexagonal and "eared" spinners but I cannot work out which cars should be fitted with which. Is this country specific? I see both US and Euro cars with them fitted? Maybe an option?

    - Seats. I understand that there was a Daytona seat option. I have seen standard seats with contrasting piping but did you have to order Daytona seats to have the contrasting fabric? Where the standard seats all leather panels? Some seats seem to have two circles on the back. Are these vents or speakers? Were they fitted to injected cars or earlier carb'd cars? Are they specific to certain options or by market?

    - Sports exhaust. I have confirmation from Maranello Concessionaires in the UK that the car I'm interested in was delivered new with a sports exhaust. Some others have suggested this is a dealer fitted option. I also see used sports exhausts advertised various places online. Is there a consensus if there was a factory option or would this have been fitted after it was imported to the UK? From photos I can find it looks to me that the sports exhaust only had the 2 main silences and not the two additional ones near the tailpipes. Is this correct?

    - Front indicators. The large front indicators on the hood seem to come in white or orange. Where the white ones specific to certain markets? Was it an option? Or is it a more modern addition?

    - Factory options. I understand lockable fuel filler, two tone black "boxer" paint, prehaps sports exhaust and Daytona seats. Were there any other options on BB512i models?

Thank you in advance if anyone can help me get up to speed with this model. Hopefully there are some questions (and hopefully answers) in here which are interesting to all forum followers.

    Thanks

the "eared" ones have been not allowed in germany, but not everybody cared about

as I remember the BBi "daytona" seats have been an option in germany

    yes

as I know ( in germany ) there have been no option from the factory for a sport exhaust, all aftermarket

in france they have been white, also have seen in switzerland but not know if original, in germany always orange

Base car came with the fabric seats in BB, one had to order the all leather (think couple hundred $ option back then at most) to not have the fabric on headliner, seat inserts and inside door panels. Not sure about that on BBi, think then they wanted a premium for the Zegna fabric. Of course the front lenses were specific for what country it was going to.
Lockable gas cap was option on BBi cars.

There were no US version BBs. All cars in the USA were Euro spec converted to comply with EPA/DOT regs.

3 ear spinners vs octagonal nuts were country specific. The parts book outlines which were allowed where. After the sale many were changed to 3 ear spinners so it is impossible to tell from what the cars have now. So no, it was not really an option.

US dealers were allowed to buy and import the cars to the USA and many did. Many BB's original sale was in the USA. The dealer who sold the most new BBi's world wide was a US dealer. And yes, the cars did have warranty.

The only interior option on the 1984 512bbi, per my understanding, was the Zegna interior. My car is black and the Zegna wool is grey. I don’t know about other years.

The white lenses were Italian market, and some Switzerland. France had white for the 365 and 512bb but for 512bbi I think they got orange lenses (yellow headlights of course).

learning as well.....and agree with the statements above.

as for exhausts, i have seen at least 3 different exhaust setups that were described as 'from the factory' so there must have been options or differences per country.

Do not think any exhaust options form factory, same for all countries i believe. Of course not for U.S. so all those that came in had some mod done for emissions, many different versions there, depending on who did the conversion.
