Wouldn't that mean there's nothing available to be ordered at this time?

Odd times for Ferrari not to have anything to order new at the moment of their current line up. Rumors has it that some dealers are offering some open 296gtb and while others may have romas open. So depends where you are and who your dealer is.

    They’re just logistically backed up.

I too was told by my dealer that only people who already have orders for GTB are eligible to order GTS. I placed my order about a month ago for GTB, and plan to order GTS tomorrow. Don't expect much depreciation on the GTB if any.

I expect that’s market/dealer dependent - I’ve not heard that from my dealer.

In US the phrasing I heard was that factory will prioritize those with GTB order. Didn’t imply you couldn’t order one without a GTB order, just that you wouldn’t have priority.

I wonder if that really comes from the factory or from the specific dealers' allocations.

This is exactly what my rep told me. The 296 GTB was my first new Ferrari deposit I've put down and my rep says I'll get priority for the GTS allocation because of it. We'll see what happens when it comes time to build and deliver cars of course.

Gtb is closed for good. They have enough orders (and back up orders) to fulfill all of the allocations that will be given and the cars the factory will produce. Now with that being said they have reopened order books in the past when a decision was made to extend the production of a certain car (not common but occurred with the Pista). Also, there is a difference between the order book and your dealers “list”. A dealer may have a huge list of potential buyers but only able to order a certain number of cars. The factory is what closes the order books but a dealer may still be taking deposits and adding you to the “ list”.

I'll just add what my dealer has told me : All of this GTB before a GTS and priority given to GTB orderers for GTS's...is a load of BS. He told me, in no uncertain terms, that these are all dealer shenanigans and Ferrari has nothing to do with it at all.

I don't have any inside knowledge or anything, and I'm so sorry others are dealing with dealers who (may) be misleading them...just reporting what my dealer told me.

For what it's worth, my F8 spider is just out of customs, BUT, very shortly after the GTB was announced I put a deposit on the GTS (I mean, we all knew it was coming)...the minute the GTS was announced , my order is all set and even shows up in the My Ferrari App.

I think the dealers probably prioritize their list of allocations against certain criteria in order to reward their 'better' customers.

It's pretty wild that different dealers will have different programs, but it confirms your point above that this isn't FNA, it's the individual dealer's rules.

Curious: Did you lock in your configuration on the GTS already? Or does it still show a blank car and waiting list?

Oh, I'm sure that happens. I know I was #1 in line at my dealer, but I wouldn't be shocked to end up much lower :)

No configuration yet - just shows blank car and waiting list. Of course, my F8 still shows waiting list and it's almost at the dealer :). It does show the VIN and config etc though...plus the pics.

I'm in the same boat, I know I was one of the first to put down a deposit but where I end up on the final 'list' is anyone's guess. Likely much much lower.

    Isn't the app wonderful? :D

812GTS too - they were closed about six months, then surprise reopened, and then ended up oversold.

It’s all a supply and demand for individual dealers depending on how long they’ve been in business and the number of customers they have from a length of time and order history dictates merit. It’s really hard for these guys to go thru their customer list and give priority. For example, one dealer may have a lot more VVIPs and Top clients vs another dealer with hardly any Top clients but a lot of VIPs and first timers so their process to allocate will be completely different. So depending on the city and region you’re in the demand is what drives what each dealer does.

Does anyone have a list of the different ranks for customers and what it takes to get there?

The TOP CLIENT is where you want to be. Depends on your history with the brand like how many cars you purchased and most should be new, extracurricular activities, any racing history or supporting role in any of the race events, length of time with brand, your age, location, and finally how many chassis you have in your garage. It’s usually 5 and up.

Right.....and we show our loyalty by playing the game for years, and then we hear there's a new policy from Ferrari telling dealers a % of new sales need to be to new customers, those with no history with Ferrari. I've never verified if that policy took effect, but in the end I guess it doesn't matter if you want any shot at a new model you get on line and cross your fingers. By now most of us have accepted that it's loyalty in one direction only.

Here’s the breakdown of how I was told

Base Clients - people who buy new once a while but mostly used and they trade one for the other. That’s where majority fall under

Regular Clients - people who buy new and used but on regular basis maybe one every 1-2 years.

VIP then VVIP (between VIP AND Top), finally Top Clients (500 worldwide).

Then other criteria gets plugged in by Ferrari like customer loyalty to other things Ferrari besides cars such as attendance at events, participation in Ferrari sponsored drives, their race team sponsorship such as directly or indirectly related - taking their race courses held throughout the year, F1 attendance, Challenge attendance and/or participation etc. so it’s a constant dynamic shift with them that a customer engages to show their pride and loyalty.

I picked up my 812 GTS from the dealer on Saturday. According to my salesman, the dealership's best client was also there and he has purchased ~50 new Ferraris from them. He basically orders every new model (e.g. not both the 812 Superfast and 812 GTS--one or the other). He gets every limited edition.

I was also told the factory penalizes dealers when their clients sell regular production models in under 6-months and limited editions in under 18-months. The punishment is lower allocations which can take years to recover from.

Re: the app--it says I am still on the waiting list for an 812 GTS even though it's sitting in my garage. The app also updated today to show that I am on the 296 GTS waiting list. I am thinking minimum 3 years before I get it.
