Purosangue Allocation Poll: Did You Accept Your Dealer’s Allocation Offer?

If you received a Purosangue allocation from your dealer, please vote in the poll. If you like, comment on why you did or did not accept the allocation.

 

They already started allocations? My salesman said he hasn’t seen any allocations at his dealer yet.

 

The first batch of pre-orders are being offered, at least where I am, as of this past Monday.

 

Lest confusion grows from terminology being used let’s be clear:

A “pre-order agreement” is an offering by Ferrari via a local dealer to TOPs and limited VIPs to purchase a Purosangue sometime in the future.

An “allocation” is a production build slot that exists in Ferraris system and is earmarked for a dealer and by extension, it’s client.

A pre-order agreement is not synonymous with an allocation. There are no existing allocations as the Purosangue hasn’t been officially launched. There are however pre-order agreements for the aforementioned level of clientele. Once the official launch takes place Ferrari will begin assigning allocations to each dealer which will be filled initially by factory pre-selected clients who signed the pre-order agreement and gave a deposit. After those are taken care of the general public will have an opportunity to try for an allocation. So as far as the title of this thread it should have read “For those officially offered a Purosangue pre-order agreement by your dealer, did you accept/place deposit?”

 

Thanks. Do you think it would be a good time to get a allocation for a 296 and retract it when/if I get the purosangue allocation. Or wait until they reveal and it’ll be a higher chance.

 

Candidly if you weren’t offered a Purosangue within the last month or so I think you’re looking at a 2025 or later delivery so I wouldn’t let that impact your plans for a 296.

 

that's right. The first 2 years of production will be straightly offered to those clientele chosen from HQ directly. Ferrari cannot afford to screw this up so those selected will not just sell the car and flood the market creating the perception of people not wanting the car. Instead they want the perception of the car all sold out the first 2 years. And more people will then want it.

Marketing strategy it is.

 

my suggestion is that if you're offered one then take it

 

I know at least 3 people who have turned down an allocation for this....I wonder how many traditional Ferrari customers are actually going to buy this based on the fact that I think the vast number of Ferrari's are not used as daily cars whereas SUVS by their nature of daily drivers.

 

Initially demand will exceed supply and I know no one with a Cullinan that truly use it as a DD.

I rarely saw any Rolls used as DDs, a guy 3 blocks down from me does - but that's it. I always felt if you're going to be in Royce/Bently - you should also have a driver.

I've seen many Lambo Urus used as DD though, same with the FF/Lusso.

 

It's nothing new, folks have wondered how many traditional Ferrari customers would buy an AWD Shooting Brake.

The Answer, (Like the Mondial, 365, 456) is: enough.

 

Agree however all those cars were not new in concept and did not have 4 fours!

 

I drive my Lusso, 16m 812 or F8 to work daily.

I accepted a preorder offer.

I’ll post up a potentially more interesting poll for the Ferraristi: If you were offered an allocation for a PS would you place a deposit?

That gets more at demand by the general Ferrari faithful. The Tops/limited-VIPs are only being offered the car because they have already demonstrated repeatedly through years that they are the sort of client who will have a low threshold to buy Ferrari’s next offering. Typically those clients aren’t making strict financial choices between different models and how they might fit into their driving needs; they have significant disposable money and buy purely for the fun of getting the latest Ferrari and usually have quite a collection.

 

Following this train of thought -- received a pre-order agreement, and accepted.

I accepted the offer as well, knowing that it is a limited series production for the V12 version.

This will be a great replacement for my V12 Lusso, as that is the one car that I take out the most in my collection because both my boys get to go out with me a for drive at the same time!

 

Mondial to this day is still the only production 4 seat mid-engine convertible (full stop) in the history of the world, throw in Valeo - and you have another Ferrari 'first'
The 365/400/412 series was the first Ferrari (gasp) with automatic transmission
The 456 had official factory variants of a 4-door AND station wagon.

My point is very simple, many portend the SUV as some sort of slaughtering of a holy cow (perhaps horse is more apt) that will precipitate the demise of Ferrari.

I simply say hogwash, that beast has been killed long ago...(see my 3 specific examples above)

Purists need to stay on the older side of 1969, even then - there are gradations where folks continue rush to one-up their 'hard core' bonafides and measure their respective purosangues'

It gets tiring.

 

Alright, neither Valeo or the Mondial in which it was fitted are deemed sought after and collectable, odd considering the fact both were so unique. 400 auto's again hardly collectable today. Sure there were various iterations of the 456, all being coach built examples which were not sold on the open market.

There has never been a 4 door Ferrari production model.

For what its worth he only way to me this SUV could attain any reasonable credibility is if it is fitted with the historical "heart" of a Ferrari, a V12 engine!

I for one will merely see this SUV as a footnote.

 

Are we talking about collectability? That's why you're afraid of the SUV? For collectability?

All the odder since I never claimed the Mondial/400/456 were collectible (though that's relative given many would argue they are)

I mentioned the Mondial (config/Valeo) simply because it had what many eschewed were COMPROMISES.

I mentioned 365*/400/412 series' automatic transmissions because it was a COMPROMISE.

A 456 4-Door is a sanctioned Ferrari model, and guess what? a COMPROMISE.

The 456 (including the 4-door and wagon) derivatives were not 3rd party, off-brand, aftermarket conversions. They rolled off the factory floor in Maranello.

If you don't count them as real Ferrari because they were one-two offs, then you might as well say the J50/SP38/P80C/SP48 are all fake Ferrari.

We have today a bunch of folks crying about some sacrosanct rule this is supposedly broken.

I would join the weeping if Ferrari declared the next hypercar is canceled due to a permanent shift to SUV production.

All I know is the Cayenne Macan makes the Porsche GT2 RS, 918, and CGT possible. So why be mad?

 

They had me at NA V12… accepted! Will have to see in the flesh to make a final call tho.

 

The 4 door 456 was not a production car, the list of special projects have frankly nothing to do with the discussion at hand. The bottom line is nowhere in its history has Ferrari built a 4 door production car, though I suppose you will then tall me a Jerrari is a Ferrari production car too

I get it, you like the idea of a SUV, me not so much. As for the point that a SUV would allow them to build other cars, oddly they have been doing quite OK and building those other cars anyway.
