GTBs are "not rare" in Europe, about 2 GTBs for 3 GTSs, so nothing remarkable; whereas the US received "about 2445 GTSs" (if my memory, etc...) but only 135 GTBs, which makes the GTB a rare car indeed. Basically, but this is not the thread for that, and no use to beat a dead horse either, the "Berlinetta" is a different car; stiffer, more precise: more of a driver's car. The shields on my GTB were not on the first pictures of the car I saw before buying it in 2008, but were put on the car between the pics and my first visit... It's a sin, I know; they were not offered before 1998 by the factory on standard road cars. But, well...I am a sinner... Rgds
To funny. Time to go to church, I guess. Anyhoo' thank you for being a good soul and sharing your cat photos.
If you are really strict about being "period correct", well: indeed shields on anything produced before 1998 (except the 348 "competizione") are not "period correct." That being said, to me, it is a minor sin. Rgds
Just finished installing OEM hardware for the rear cat of my 78 308 GTS. Nuts and bolts were used for the rear cat. The front cat had the correct OEM hardware. The bolt and nuts finally came loose and blew the donut out of the flange at rear header. Made a loud exhaust sound on the way home. Purchased about $700 worth of correct OEM hardware and reinstalled new donuts for the rear bank and cat. Photos shown are prior to tightening the hardware. Thanks to Ferrparts for getting the hardware. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This Saturday I started up the 308gt4 motor for the first time since it's rebuild, on the bench. A very good day! Here are a few YouTube links. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Aw5j2n_I3m4?&ab_channel=Channel5RatchetNews https://www.youtube.com/shorts/J8pKiglmjh8?&ab_channel=Channel5RatchetNews https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3EmC0HzeR2s
I installed the reproduction speaker grilles I got from fellow F-chatter Andrew McCrae. Some previous owner had cut holes in them to fit larger speakers. It always bothered me and the replacement grilles from Andrew were really great quality and to me almost indistinguishable from the originals. I started to replace the injectors in my 328. Unfortunately 2 & 3 are not removable without removing the plenum or at least the accelerator body. Dam. I don’t have gaskets for the plenum, raisers nor accelerator body. I created my own extractor based on Varrel design. Really helps. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'll probably tackle that job later this summer (one of my to-do chores from my PPI report). I was thinking the easiest solution would be to remove the flex pipe, then remove the nuts holding the throttle body and just shift it sideways temporarily to get at 2 and 3. There seems to be enough slack in everything connected to the throttle body to leave it all attached. Could slide in a new gasket as needed (mine looks nearly new so I'd probably reuse it if the condition was good).
Thanks to Recambi. I received new gaskets in only a couple of days, and I live in Mexico. So now im ready to do it. I assume the gasket will broke when removing the throttle body. I also have the injector bushings, which I got form member @smg2 - https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/88-328-injector-help.442400/page-2 https://www.shapeways.com/product/ZKSE2ZDQR/ferrari-qv-cis-bushing?optionId=243556342&li=shops I am tempted to remove the risers and change the bushings, but on the other hand, I want to drive my car as much as possible and not work on it.
I haven't driven my 328 in 5 weeks, when I first drained the fuel system and pulled a bunch of older hoses/parts out. Then I was sick and lost a couple weeks. Finally started getting back into it and with luck will be able to get her buttoned up and ready to drive in 2-3 days. While I enjoy working on cars, I really miss driving the 328 and feel like it's a disservice to have the car up on blocks rather than driving it. There are so many things to address once you get into a project on these cars that it can snowball very quickly. And of course, access is challenging. I really just needed to replace the accumulator but decided to put in a new pump, replace the fuel tank sleeves, and replace the filler neck hose. Along the way, I found a couple mistakes (completely unrelated to the fuel system) made by a previous mechanic and wanted to correct them while things were apart. Then I repaired fiberglass on the fender liner that had cracked around some of the screw holes. Last thing I want to do is sand, prime, and paint a chipped area on the inside of the wheel arch. Lot of extra chores when all I really needed to do is replace the accumulator...
Have you got to the point to consider removing the (hood?) engine lid? i did. Still trying to convince myself that I shouldn’t.
I haven't needed to remove the engine lid so far, and won't need to for the rest of this project. But I do see the need in the future, and will be saving up several tasks to make it worth the trouble. I think I can get my tractor forks under the lid to make removal/reinstall a one-man job, but won't know until I try.
Installed the reskinned center console last weekend and finished the carpet set today. Glueing the side carpets are tedious and very time consuming. Mistakes are difficult to rectify once the contact cemented pieces are down. Very happy with the results. I’ll install the reskinned rear side and door panels and the rear seat next week.
Not exactly to my Ferrari but for my Ferrari... Finished flanging the plug. Making the mold is actually next! Huge step in the process. 100 hours and nine pounds of clay to flange this thing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Took 458S to a Cars & Coffee in the morning- Took good friend's kid for a ride- detailed her covered- watched F1 race- Great day
Hmmmm... interesting. Similar to a Boxer livery on a 308 or gold alloys. Not terrible, just takes a bit of getting used to. I'm guessing it's a wrap?
I don’t dislike it and the more I look at the more I kinda like it. What wheels do you have on it? You did a great job restoring it.
Are the lenses smoked? They look a little dark. How about a side / front view? It is eye-catching, in a good way.
