IMHO, it's basically a revised 370Z with several design cues from Z history. Probably too many homage details (nose, hood bulge, door handles, tail lights...) to create something great. If I didn't know it was a new Z, I would have assumed it's the next gen 370Z.

    Overall: Yawn.

For all the talk about "the return of the manual", most reviewers seem to prefer the auto.

The reason there is no "wow" is because the Supra is by all accounts a better car, even if the Supra is a bit more expensive. There's something to be said for the German DNA in the Supra that the Z just simply cannot match.

And the Supra's rwhp is actually higher than advertised hp and the simple mods make it even quicker.

One dealer I had spoken with before emailed me today and told me the prices will be approximately $40k for the Sport Trim, $50k for the Performance Spec and $53k for the Proto Spec.

As weird as the Supra looks, I think I'd rather have that with a stick.

Yes it is. Most dealers are ordering the carbon fiber editions which put it close to $70k out the door. I have a Camaro ZL1 1LE incoming which is more expensive but the Z car just doesn't seem to cut it performance-wise.

I dunno. Toyota seems to be on a mission to make all its cars ugly.

I agree. I am a pretty big fan of Japanese cars having owned a 300zx and a nsx-t. But the supra styling didn't even hit my radar for something I would own

I would have to disagree. There is a difference between a car being a little bland (Z) and a car that is not appealing or ugly (Supra)

It is interesting that Nissan can re-create the Z but still hangs onto the same styling for the GTR all this time.

It's like the Madza RX8. If you hold a hand to your face and only look at certain parts, the car looks good. But if you then look at the whole car, you have to wonder if Mr. Front Designer ever talked to Mr. Rear Designer.

Frankly, I call it an Angry Asian Insect on LSD. Asian taste is strange to me. They can make beautiful sand gardens, but ugly cars.

Unfortunately, they have lost their unique styling to what the masses want...lots of vents and folds and creases and unnecessary layers and lines.

It is sad because the Japanese are supposed to be known to be bold, nonconforming, and unlike anything else.

Lexus lost me when they went for the "Predator" face, waaaaaaaay oversized hourglass front grill.

How many “reviewers” can even drive a manual?

Here is my problem with Nissan's "influencer" YouTube campaign

Unless you're younger than 25 you need not apply to buy this car. They could have used the nostalgia and the manual to try to broaden their market -- but they failed.

Funny but no one in the world said that about the new Fiat 124.

My 355 weighs 2976lbs and has 380hp - most fun car of the 5 I own (includes a 911GT3T, 458S and Hellcat Challenger) to drive -

Driving enjoyment is not all about p2w ratios and 0-60 times.

    Cheers

Precisely.... put Chris Harris or Randy Probst in it and I'll take stock in the review- some snot nosed millennial who learned to "drive" playing Gran Turismo means zero to me-

Just buy a BRZ or MX-5 if you really want an inexpensive fun car to drive- or a Kia Stinger if you are either too lazy or dumb to not know how to drive a manual

That said I do admire Nissan for at least having the balls to build and sell it and not cow-towing like the pathetic wuss-ass "car" companies like Ford -

True but at least they didn't go full AOC like BMW- I mean most Bimmers (6-series and i8 exceptions) were about as exciting to look at as Rosie O'Donnell but the new ones are just nauseating- At least the Lexus LC is still sick beautiful-

Awesome- Must have been super cool to meet him! I use him as my reference point when all the lunchbox racing babble starts up about modifying cars or needing more power- I basically say "could Randy P get in your car and turn a better lap time? If so then shut up and spend money on track time and instruction versus more power"
