The fact that Lewis was penalized for this means your hard racing comment is invalid.

Anyone else just glad Ham will never drive a Ferrari? I count my lucky stars everyday...enduring Seb at Ferrari was my max limit.

In my opinion there where only a couple of GP that the RBR was a step above (both Austria races). The Mercedes was easier to drive in just about all others and the Silverstone upgrade swung things their way, with the final engine upgrade making it a big step above the rest.

Whilst I doubt Lewis would be dropped, if the performance gap remains and Lewis struggles to beat George convincingly, I'd be surprised to see him in F1 next year.

Won't matter to Toto anymore as he's got a driver that can match Lewis.

I still believe Hamilton will see his contract out and use that time to help improve the car.

As long as the car isn't a title contender, the question of rivalry between team mates won't arise.

My thoughts are a bit more complicated.

Was Max a better driver than Ham last year? (Definitely YES)

Did he win by the rules? No.

The clarification of this year's safety car should remove all doubt about what the intended interpretation was of the admittedly vague language.

I'm happy that Max won, makes for a more exciting sport, but I do think Hamilton lost by a steward decision.

    Agreed.
Disagree. Verstappen won by last years' rules.
Even if you want to argue that rules were broken in the last lap of the last race, it's very easy to also argue that rules were broken in the first lap of the last race, rules were broken in Silverstone, etc etc. Taking the season "as a whole", Max benefited far less from "broken rules" than his adversary.
The FIA themselves called the new rule a "rule change" (not a clarification). Even if yiou want to argue that there was "ambiguity" in the previous wording of the rules ... an ambiguity that has now been clarified ... who, exactly, is given the authority by the rules, during the race, to interpret such "ambiguity" ... if not the Race Director? There's no time, during the race, to call in a team of lawyers to resolve any possible "ambiguity" in the wording of the rules ;)
Yes, the stewards supported the decisions made in the last lap of the last race. But the stewards also looked the other way in the first lap of the last race, the stewards looked the other way in Silverstone, etc etc. Again, when ALL races during the season are counted ... as we must do, when discussing the championship ... the only reason Hamilton was even in contention by the last lap of the last race, is because of stewards' decisions, throughout the season, to keep him there.

Silverstone was MUCH more impactful on the season as a whole, than the last lap of the last race. Heck, the first lap of the last race was more impactful than the last lap (Hamilton was gifted a position in the first lap, whereas the drivers were simply allowed to race for the last lap).

Verstappen's 2021 championship has been "validated" by the FIA (again, direct quote). I'm very satisfied with the validated outcome :)

No, honestly I am disapoointed. I'd like nothing more to see him winning in a Ferrari. While it's not a popular view around here, I honestly believe Hamilton is not only a better driver than Schumacher was, but certainly a better sportsman. I can't think of a driver who has done more harm to the sporting nature of F1 then MSC did.
